Fans Select Wide Receiver Allen Robinson As the 2015 VIZIO Top Value Performer
Irvine, CA — January 26, 2016 — VIZIO, Inc. today announced Jacksonville’s Allen Robinson as the winner of the 2015 VIZIO Top Value Performer (TVP) award. Over the past two weeks, Robinson campaigned for fan votes by engaging fans on social media and by participating in a series of broadcast radio interviews touting his candidacy. As a result, football enthusiasts across the country selected him as the player most deserving of this season’s award. For the ninth consecutive year, the VIZIO Top Value Performer award recognizes the professional football player whose on-field performance most exceeds expectations and the value of their annual base salary as voted on by the fans. By clinching the most votes, Robinson beat out candidates such as Cleveland’s Travis Benjamin, Minnesota’s Stefon Diggs, Atlanta’s Devonta Freeman and Buffalo’s Tyrod Taylor to secure the award.
During the regular season, Robinson exploded into a top-caliber offensive weapon for Jacksonville, netting out at 1,400 yards for the season. This impressive stat makes him the first Jacksonville player since 2002 to eclipse the 1,000-yard benchmark. As one of the league’s brightest young players, in a talent-rich position, Robinson’s consistent play and $580,000 base salary made him a strong candidate this year’s TVP award.
“Winning the VIZIO Top Value Performer award is such a tremendous honor and I’m so thankful for my fans for their support,” said Robinson. “I told my Twitter followers I’d giveaway an 80” VIZIO TV if they helped me win and now that I have, I can’t wait to give back to a lucky fan! I was up against great company for this award, so the fact my fans remained loyal and helped me climb to the top really means a lot.”
Partnering with former general manager, current pro-football analyst and commentator Charley Casserly, VIZIO determined this year’s top five candidates based on their regular season performances, statistics and the role they’ve played in the success of their respective teams. These factors were measured against their base salaries to nominate this year’s finalists.
“This year’s nominees for the Top Value Performer really engaged with their fans with the same heart and passion that they exhibit on the field,” said Lily Knowles, Vice President of Product Marketing, VIZIO. “Allen took that to new heights this year, getting fans excited about his TVP nomination during his campaign, which in turn helped drive votes and awareness through social media. Congratulations to Allen for his stellar 2015 season and also for clinching 2015 VIZIO Top Value Performer honors.”
The 2015 finalists were voted on by fans at VIZIO.com/TVP from January 5 to January 19. Fans were also encouraged to spur discussion by using each player’s custom TVP hashtag on social media. With each vote, fans received a chance to enter a giveaway to win a new VIZIO M-Series 4K Ultra HD Smart TV. Members of VIZIO’s online rewards program – VIZIO Fandemonium – earned points for their votes, which they are able to redeem for prizes like signed memorabilia, VIZIO products, digital downloads and once-in-a-lifetime experiences.
