Vizio Beefs Up Sports Lineup With Free CBS, NFL, Pac-12, beIN Apps

TV maker Vizio has drafted a lineup of free sports-related content onto the team for its SmartCast proprietary interface, adding the stand-alone CBS Sports app and three free channels of mostly “shoulder” content from beIN, the Pac-12 and the NFL.

“For decades, sports have had a tremendous impact on TV viewership and engagement,” said Katherine Pond, Vizio’s VP of Business Development. “SmartCast viewers will now have access to even more free sports content to enjoy from some of the top leagues and media-rights holders in the world.”

The CBS Sports app provides free access to news, scores, highlights and betting advice, as well as streams of some live sporting events carried by CBS-connected outlets, including golf, SEC college football and NCAA college basketball.
