Running Back Spencer Ware Chosen By Fans As The 2016 VIZIO Top Value Performer

Irvine, CA — January 24, 2017 VIZIO, Inc. today announced Kansas City’s Spencer Ware as the winner of the 2016 VIZIO Top Value Performer (TVP) award. Ware has spent the last two weeks promoting his candidacy by engaging his followers on social media and participating in a series of broadcast radio interviews, where he encouraged fans to show their support by voting. Now in its tenth year, the VIZIO Top Value Performer award is presented to the professional football player whose on-field performance most exceeds expectations and the value of their current contract, as voted on by the fans. In one of the most competitive votes in the award’s history, Ware beat out a collection of stellar players including Miami’s Jay Ajayi, San Diego’s Tyrell Williams, Oakland’s Latavius Murray, and New Orleans’s Michael Thomas, to secure the award.

After being thrust into a starting role early in the season, Ware was quick to impress and has since developed into one of the league’s most versatile players. Ware excelled as both a rushing and receiving threat, becoming one of the focal points of Kansas City’s offense, delivering more than 1,300 total yards on the season. The combination of impressive stats at one of the game’s most important positions and Ware’s base salary of $600,000 made him a compelling TVP candidate for fan voters.

With the expertise of former general manager, current football analyst and commentator Charley Casserly, VIZIO determined this year’s candidates based on regular season performances, statistics and the role they played in the success of their respective teams. Each of these factors were weighed against the players’ base salaries to determine the nominees who represented the greatest overall value.

The 2016 TVP finalists were voted on by fans at from January 3 to January 16. Fans were also encouraged to spur discussion by using each player’s custom TVP hashtag on social media.
