VIZIO is certainly making a run for the videophile market with its new XVT Pro Series. It's amazing how each model in this newly announced line manages to stuff so many features into a pretty (and pretty cheap) unit.
First up, we have three new 3D-capable TVs. The SPS TruLED Full HD3D series will be available in a 47- and 55-inch model, as well as the eye-popping 72-inch unit. Each one will have a 480Hz refresh rate, as well as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi support, LED backlighting, five HDMI ports and a built-in wireless HDMI receiver. VIZIO says the unit will deliver 1080p to each eye, but you will need to buy the add-on XpanD active-shutter glasses to get it.
Each of the SPS TruLED Full HD3D series will start selling in August. The 72-inch XVTPRO720SV will retail for $3,499, with the 55-inch XVTPRO550SV costing $2,499, and the 47-inch XVTPRO470SV coming in at a very enticing $1,999.
Those looking for an immersive experience without 3D will be very interested in the Cinema Wide display, also know as the XVTPRO580CD. This 58-inch Razor LED displays a very impressive 21 x 9 aspect ratio, with a resolution of 2560 x 1080. That means no black bars and no projector or screen. Wow wee. Other features include a 1000000:1 mega dynamic contrast ratio, LED backlighting, 120Hz with Smooth Motion technology, wireless HDMI, and built-in Wi-Fi support. It's expected to ship later this year, although no exact date or pricing has been announced.
All of the above models come with a super-cool Bluetooth remote control, which has a sliding QWERTY keyboard to make typing easy. They will also feature access to VIZIO Internet Apps. This is the company's own web-based content service. Like other manufacturers, it doesn't require an additional PC or set-top box. VIA content partners include Amazon Video On Demand, Blockbuster On Demand, eBay, Facebook, Flickr, Netflix, Pandora, Rhapsody, Showtime and Twitter
