Vizio is best known for making inexpensive televisions. But the company is getting into the computer space, and while its first laptops aren’t exactly cheap, they’re actually very reasonably priced by ultrabook standards. And at least two of the first notebooks from Vizio are ultrabooks, featuring thin and light cases and Intel Ivy Bridge processors.

With starting prices of around $900, Vizio’s 14 and 15.6 inch ultaportable laptops would be reasonably competitive against offerings from Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo and Samsung. But Vizio is also packing in a premium features that you’d normally expect on more expensive ultrabooks: high resolution displays.

Vizio’s 14 inch model has a 1600 x 900 pixel display, while the 15.6 inch ultrabook has a 1920 x 1080 pixel screen.

Both notebooks measure less than 0.33 inches thick and feature Intel third generation Core series processors and Intel HD 400 graphics.

Starting models will have Core i3 processors, 4GB of memory, and 128GB solid state disks, but Core i7 CPUs and 256GB disks will also be available.
