VIZIO Tries a Windows 8 Tablet with AMD Inside

Unlike most of the Windows 8 tablets we’ve seen so far, Vizio’s slate uses an AMD Z60 processor instead of Intel-based chips. In terms of performance, it should be on par with Intel’s Clover Trail-based Atom processor–so not exactly a powerhouse–but AMD’s chips have a bit more graphics muscle to power the tablet’s 11.6-inch, 1080p display.

Other specs include at least 64 GB of storage, 2 GB of RAM and ports for MicroUSB and MicroHDMI. Battery life should be around eight hours for regular use, or five to six hours of video playback. Although it doesn’t have a built-in keyboard/trackpad dock like most other Windows 8 tablets, Vizio says to expect keyboard and trackpad accessories that connect via Bluetooth. Look for the tablet late this quarter.
