VIZIO’s First Atmos Surround Sound System Is Out Now, and It’s Surprisingly Affordable

Following on from their announcement earlier this year, the first of Vizio’s debut Dolby Atmos soundbars are now available, with the latter two set to follow later this year. 

Dolby Atmos is the latest audio standard from the cinema giant. It uses an object-based system to make it sound as though action is happening above, as well as behind you. Although it started out as a premium technology, budget systems such as those from Vizio have emerged to capitalise on the increasing amounts of available Atmos content, especially now that the standard is available on the Apple TV 4K and Xbox One S.

The 36 inch, 5.1.2 version of the Vizio system is the first to see a release today at $499.99. This system includes a total of five speakers around you (three at the front, and two at the rear), two upward firing speakers, and a single subwoofer.
