Purchased the new VBR231 over the weekend. So new in fact, that they don't even have it up on the website yet. Paid $149 at BJ's. Like users of the VBR220 have reported, out of the box and running wireless apps (Vudu and Netflix) in less than 10 minutes.
Video quality is great on both the discs and via the apps. The remote is a little quirky. You need to point directly at the unit and apply a bit of pressure (getting clicker thumb syndrome).
Also, a blue tooth keyboard on the remote would have been nice, especially for the facebook app. . I see they offer that option on some of the newer TV remotes.
Overall, very satisfied. Can't beat it for the money.(Posted on 8/18/10)

All I need to say is flawless. I hooked this up to my 42" VIZIO TV and within 2 minutes I had connected the wifi, setup the device and was looking at Netflix titles. Owned it only a week now but it is perfect. Thanks for a great device.

- OK Needs more video vendors remote way to hard to press but I love it Review by cOLEY

I was a little let down when I read that I MUST install at minimum a 1 gig USB (Formatted only at AT 32) drive in order to enjoy the DB Live feature if your Blue Ray movie has the extra option.
About 8 months ago I'd bought a Wester Digital WD Live Media Player and 4 months later WD came out with the NETFLIX feature. The offered no firmware update even for money. I thought that was a very poor way to treat a customer but them I read that the CPU and or Memory in the one I bought for $94.00 (about 3/2010) was not large enough and fast enough to handle a Firmware upgrade. Sounded like hogwash. I have had no problem playing Full 10 minute YouTube videos on it, go figure.
I love this Vizio 220, I was amazed how easy it was to setup the internet. It was the least price unit that had wifi built in. My 50" TV is on the wall in the living room and the router is in the bedroom. It would be hard to run an RJ45/cat5 cable to the router. Before I knew it I was into my router and video was playing.
I had a little problem with the $15.00 free credit on VUDU (So I THOUGHT) The screen that tells you what numbers to enter didn't stay on long enough for me to write them down. Anyway I figured I would use my credit card with Vudu and Netflix and BINGO I noticed there was a $15.00 credit sitting in my VUDU account despite I messed upwith the number entry. Later I read that one did not have to be concerned if they had a Vizio player. For some reason it just gives you the credit.
Hey I feel this is great it may be short lived but at 9.95/month netflix I'm going to kill my $60 a month saatelite bill and a lot of movies on Vudu are $2.95 (for 24 hour period) and thats not to bad.
I only have a DSL lite i.e. 1.5meg down/256k up speed so Im limited to standard video (the least clearest, old 480i) but heck its fine with me. Its very pleasing on the eyes and I never got on jam in 5 movies. Only once did I stop a movie half through on Netflix and for some reason it wouldnt resume.
My biggest but minor complaint is that the remote buttons are way to hard to press. I feel like I will tear up the rubber before a year passes because I have to press everything so hard. Also when a keyboard pops up on the screen if a is at far left and lets say J is on far right and you need to press b after j you must back all the way up to B you cant simply pass J to A then select B as I could on my Dlink 620 Media player. (Its also Wifi) I hope they want mess with each other (maybe thats the answer to why it jammed)?
One feature that truly impressed me about the way Netflix is setup in this box is I got sleepy 1/2 way through a movie. but I wanted to see the rest but closed it up and went to sleep. When I turned the unit on my movie started right were I left off. I thought that was very nice. There is a box out there without blue ray that has much more options of movie providers. I'm tempted to buy it. HOWEVER I'm am going to put my FAITH in VIZIO,a company I never herd of until big screens came out that they will offer some sort of firmware upgrade every 6 or so months to include more providers. If they dont this unit may become obsolete and be nothing more than a BD player with only 2 movie channels. That want be good Vizio. I vowed never to buy another Western Digital for the stunt they pulled. Please don't do that to us customers that are supporting your cause at the time. Please give us some firmware type upgrade. I didn't see anywhere to check for a newer firmware upgrade but I'm sure Vizio can do it. Keep in mind Thumb drive memory is cheap now. I'm amazed you didn't simply put the 1 gig memory needed for DB live in the box from the start but look at it this way, Maybe you can design the next firmware to go into a 2 4 or 8 gig USB stick so you can send a firmware upgrade into the USb drive. I must leave it in place anyway so please give the firmware option a consideration. I would like my company to envy my Vizio and ask where I got not laugh because it has 2 channels and others now have 10 or 12. This is a Great product, for a great price. My Blue rays start fast (I don't know what some people complain about them starting so slow) You must have addressed that problem early on.
I want to brag about my Vizio for years to come. Hint Hint. Now I will return to enjoy some nice music and watch a movie later on my neat Vizio.(Posted on 8/14/10)

I just purchased this on 8/10/2010 and it was so easy to set up, i am not electronically inclined, so if i can set it up anyone can. i already have a blu-ray player for the living room so i decided to look into one for my vizio tv in my room, my friend recommended i get this vbr220 blu-ray player since i am a member of netflix, pandora, and facebook she said i would love it. i purchased this one from ebay and it was brand new sealed in plastic with the seal never opened. it was the best money i ever bought and I love streaming to watch movies. thanks vizio for the great products going to surprise my husband for his birthday with a 55''tv and a vbr220 blu-ray player for his game room. thank you for making things so simple. i would definitely recommend your products to everyone and anyone. best money spent i love it

This was so easy to setup, without a manual, but than I'm a tech, my 16 year old had it figured out in under 15 minutes. You really cannot go wrong, this is the ticket.
Keep up the GREAT Work Vizio!!!(Posted on 8/9/10)

I actually purchased A VBR210 today and couldn't locate it on VIZIOs Website. So Far it is Awesome . connected right up to my 5 yr old DlinK wireless Router. Quickly connected to NETFlix and streamed a movie then watched A blue Ray Disc of Topgun it was fantastic. I want to watch AVATAR in Blueray now.
I am currently hooked up using component video as I thought I had an HDMI cable at home but it was a PC monitor to HDMI cable. However the component video is awesome even if only 720P.
My Logitech remote was also able to be programmed to work it with no issues what so ever.(Posted on 8/9/10)

I purchased mind a couple of days ago, and had a hard time sleeping (because it's awesome - lol), I would recommend this to anyone who's looking for a Blue Ray player. The Pandora music is incredible... Just trying to figure out Facebook and the other apps.

- So far so good Review by Petunia

At present very, very satisfied with the player. When I first hooked it up, nothing happened. The lights on the back were on but I could not get it to turn on, no power. I had to tap the top of it several times and suddenly VOILA, the power can on. Go figure. It scared me at first, loose connection maybe, should I take it back to Walmart or what? After hooking up all the connections, bother, I thought I'd keep it for a trial run, if it screwed up again it was going back. I got this Blu Ray a week ago and so far so good. It has an excellent picture and I love streaming movies from Netlix, piece of cake. I just hope that it keeps on working as well as it is. I recommend this product.

Just go this thing tonight with the blu-ray of Saving Private Ryan. Awesome!! Easily recognized my router for internet connection. I am hooked up to Netflix and Pandora and I am eager to give Vudu a test run. This player is worth it folks. I have owned 2 Vizio LCDs and if thing is like them I will be enjoying this for some time... at least until I upgrade to Vizio's 3D equipment!!

- Very Impressed Review by Ms Meechie

So I have waited forever to buy a blu-ray player because I really never saw a need, but after being convinced by a friend of mine who swears by them. I have to say I am impressed, the set up was really easy and the connecting wirelessly to my router was smooth. I went back and forth between this one and one from Sony, and as soon as I listed the specs to my friend he was like, get the Vizio, but I think what sold him on it was the built in wireless adapter. I have no idea why I waited, but I am glad I did because this model is great.

My new VBR220 would not connect to my Belkin router using the control button on the remote, I had to manually set the VIA to my router using the menu selections. once I figured this out, set up was only 2 minutes. Wireless internet connection is great, picture is clear. I can instantly stream movies from NETFLIX. Overall, I'm satisfied with my VIZO VBR220

Read the reviews prior to buying. All the stores in my area were sold out. Finally found one store that had 3! Bought 2 of the 3 and installed them seamlessly in less than 5 minutes each. Awesome signal strength and works well with just a linksys wireless G network. Only complaint is I cannot download user manual.....Other than that, my family will see these as Christmas gifts...grin

- WIFI Difficult to connect Review by Jim

After three calls to tech support and two to my internet carrier, I finally got an internet connection. Was not happy with all the time and phone calls and all the changes I had to make to my router to get it to accept this Blu-ray.
