Product Review (submitted on August 14, 2010):

I was a little let down when I read that I MUST install at minimum a 1 gig USB (Formatted only at AT 32) drive in order to enjoy the DB Live feature if your Blue Ray movie has the extra option.
About 8 months ago I'd bought a Wester Digital WD Live Media Player and 4 months later WD came out with the NETFLIX feature. The offered no firmware update even for money. I thought that was a very poor way to treat a customer but them I read that the CPU and or Memory in the one I bought for $94.00 (about 3/2010) was not large enough and fast enough to handle a Firmware upgrade. Sounded like hogwash. I have had no problem playing Full 10 minute YouTube videos on it, go figure.

I love this Vizio 220, I was amazed how easy it was to setup the internet. It was the least price unit that had wifi built in. My 50" TV is on the wall in the living room and the router is in the bedroom. It would be hard to run an RJ45/cat5 cable to the router. Before I knew it I was into my router and video was playing.

I had a little problem with the $15.00 free credit on VUDU (So I THOUGHT) The screen that tells you what numbers to enter didn't stay on long enough for me to write them down. Anyway I figured I would use my credit card with Vudu and Netflix and BINGO I noticed there was a $15.00 credit sitting in my VUDU account despite I messed upwith the number entry. Later I read that one did not have to be concerned if they had a Vizio player. For some reason it just gives you the credit.

Hey I feel this is great it may be short lived but at 9.95/month netflix I'm going to kill my $60 a month saatelite bill and a lot of movies on Vudu are $2.95 (for 24 hour period) and thats not to bad.

I only have a DSL lite i.e. 1.5meg down/256k up speed so Im limited to standard video (the least clearest, old 480i) but heck its fine with me. Its very pleasing on the eyes and I never got on jam in 5 movies. Only once did I stop a movie half through on Netflix and for some reason it wouldnt resume.

My biggest but minor complaint is that the remote buttons are way to hard to press. I feel like I will tear up the rubber before a year passes because I have to press everything so hard. Also when a keyboard pops up on the screen if a is at far left and lets say J is on far right and you need to press b after j you must back all the way up to B you cant simply pass J to A then select B as I could on my Dlink 620 Media player. (Its also Wifi) I hope they want mess with each other (maybe thats the answer to why it jammed)?

One feature that truly impressed me about the way Netflix is setup in this box is I got sleepy 1/2 way through a movie. but I wanted to see the rest but closed it up and went to sleep. When I turned the unit on my movie started right were I left off. I thought that was very nice. There is a box out there without blue ray that has much more options of movie providers. I'm tempted to buy it. HOWEVER I'm am going to put my FAITH in VIZIO,a company I never herd of until big screens came out that they will offer some sort of firmware upgrade every 6 or so months to include more providers. If they dont this unit may become obsolete and be nothing more than a BD player with only 2 movie channels. That want be good Vizio. I vowed never to buy another Western Digital for the stunt they pulled. Please don't do that to us customers that are supporting your cause at the time. Please give us some firmware type upgrade. I didn't see anywhere to check for a newer firmware upgrade but I'm sure Vizio can do it. Keep in mind Thumb drive memory is cheap now. I'm amazed you didn't simply put the 1 gig memory needed for DB live in the box from the start but look at it this way, Maybe you can design the next firmware to go into a 2 4 or 8 gig USB stick so you can send a firmware upgrade into the USb drive. I must leave it in place anyway so please give the firmware option a consideration. I would like my company to envy my Vizio and ask where I got not laugh because it has 2 channels and others now have 10 or 12. This is a Great product, for a great price. My Blue rays start fast (I don't know what some people complain about them starting so slow) You must have addressed that problem early on.

I want to brag about my Vizio for years to come. Hint Hint. Now I will return to enjoy some nice music and watch a movie later on my neat Vizio.
