VIZIO VF551XVT 55" TruLED™ LCD Flat Panel HDTV
Product Review (submitted on October 19, 2009):
I have been looking at the LEDs for a while. I noticed pixilation on the Samsung 55 when it was playing a blue ray at the shop. Other abnormalities the longer I watched.
I decided to hold off on LED.
I saw this TV and it looked great so I bought one for my Mom. I waited 2 weeks than I bought one for myself. I was playing a 63' DLP and it was big and beautiful but I had. to buy a 200.00 bulb every year. I crank some pretty long hours playing console games. I thought the screen size would be too small compared to what I WAS USED TO. Not at all, the resolution makes up for it and along with being able to adjust accurately and easily for room lighting conditions.
First thing I noticed a near 3D effect when playing a blue ray. The picture jumps out and grabs you. The depth of field seems so much more accurate.
The presets on the picture will make you happy right out of the box. And yes the blacks are really black. I’m curious to see what the video files come up with on the custom settings. I am using all the pre sets and it looks great.
The gaming is fantastic and, I have yet to see any pixilation on bright scenes or explosions, and NO motion blur or delay. The detail is fantastic I can see things in the games I never seen before at 1080i. Some of the scenery in these games is extremely beautiful. It looks like a whole new world. The color and detail is beautiful.
Last but not least, the best onboard sound I have heard on any flat screen. This is one of the main reasons I bought it for my Mom. I find myself watching programs and media at a sound level of 14-24 with clarity and effect. If you want big sound maybe a 40, games rarely over a 28-34, norm. about a 22-24.
Musicals on blue ray (Phantom, Cats) are fine on 36-40 I am using” flat” setting more than any other, and classical. I do not care for the other settings.
Overall I think it is a FANTASTIC value. This motivates my purchase more than anything. There is a difference in “a good deal” and a “great value”
