Outstanding TV!!!!! Review by KT

I bought this TV to replace a Toshiba DLP TV that I purchased about 2 years ago. This TV has been one of the best purchases I have made in a while. My wife who does not get very excited about electronics appreciates the quality of this television. The picture and sound quality are outstanding. I am enjoying this television and have no regrets for the purchase. If you are thinking about buying this television you are not making a bad decision.

Fantastic! WOW! Amazing! take your pick! Review by Steve

Where do I start.

Bought this TV yesterday and it is amazing. Went to Sam's and picked this thing up for a fraction of the cost of its competitors. I get it home and even the packing is smart, four tabs and the lid comes off. Once the top was off, the first thing I noticed was the shear size of this monster! By far the largest TV I have ever owned! But once I removed it from the box, I had it set up and working within minutes. The setup was simple and the picture is beautiful.
I am very picky about my electronics, I have researched and compared flat screens for almost 3 years. I was waiting to see what won the plasma/LCD war before I bought. I was leaning toward a Samsung or Sony. But control section of my work, there was Vizio used to display security camera footage. It went out last week, I assumed it was cheap and not a quality product then I found out it was on 24 hrs a day, 5 days a week. for the past 6 years. That's a lot of viewing time....(almost 40,000 hrs).

That was what made me start looking at Vizio. I was always a firm beleiver that when it comes to electronics, you get what you pay for. Cheap meant crap... But with Vizio you CAN actually get quality with a great price.

Bottom line buy this TV you will not regret it...

Buy One Review by Bob

Buy this set.

For years I have wanted a larger TV, but have always put it off as unnecessary / too expensive, etc. ( I have been watching the same 20” RCA I bought when I finished college, in 1989 !!!!!!! )

With tax refund money in the bank, last week I checked out TV’s at Wal Mart and Best Buy, several looked interesting, including the 47” Samsung LED / 240hz unit, but was put off by the prices.

Friday night at Sams Club, I saw this 55”’ Vizio, and was back lunch time Sat to buy.

Out of the box, the picture in unreal. ( I don’t know how to make any adjustments / haven’t even tried to figure out any settings.)

Sat night (looking for HD content to watch) HBO HD showed the Bruce Willis movie the Fifth Element. I usually hate sci fi, but the visuals in this movie sucked me in. The space shots containing planets / space with stars / space craft were incredible. (The contrast of the white clouds around earth / the deep black of space, was incredible.) In one scene, a hand reached out of the screen, 3 d effect. A futuristic cab is in one scene, you could see the smudges / dirt on the protective glass between the cabbie and the back seat “passenger”. The eyes of the lead female character were beyond words.

I spent the rest of the weekend looking for HD movies. Sunday night was Clint Eastwoods Thunderbolt and Lightfoot. The Montana countryside was gorgeous.

In short, don’t hesitate to buy this 55” Vizio.

Sick, Amazing, I would have paid $3000 for it Review by vonoventwin

After about 4 months of research, this is the sickest, nastiest, most amazing TV I have ever seen. Seriosuly! Regardless of price. I saw a couple of $4500 LEDs, who cares... This really was the best! Buy the TV, stick is Dark Knight in Blu-Ray and try to tell me different.... Oh btw, my living has the brightness of an island in the middle of sea on a hot summer BRIGHT day! Who cares, the matte finish + LED makes it very easy to see without glares.. I LOVE IT!

to keep it simple... 5+ stars, 3 thumbs up Review by SOLD!!

Well i decided what i wanted to say and logged in to do so, when i read some other reviews much better worded than i could, and some were to the "t" the way i felt. a review by The Future Of TV states: "I did want to hold out for the 552XVT, but I'm sure that will be much more expensive. The 551XVT doesn't have bluetooth or WiFi or the Vizio internet Apps or the Qwerty Keyboard Remote. Keep that in mind when viewing their website.
My old TV was a Phillips 55" HD Widescreen Projection TV. Even though that was HD, it can't even compare to this. Not even slightly!!! The picture on this TV when watching 1080P is "sick", its so crystal clear. I actually kind of dislike it in a weird way. When I am watching a movie it feels like I'm standing on the movie set and watching them film the movie. Its feels like I'm watching a play. Everything is magnified, if an actor is a bad actor, they look 10X worse. If a set is fake and chessy, it looks 10X cheesier. Before this TV it was like watching a movie with beer-noculars on. Everything was fuzzy and blurry which made shows seem surreal. Now when you watch shows, its like your sober. As a big fan of 3D, the TV doesn't look like your watching a 3D movie. But because its so clear it feels like your on the set and everything has a nice depth perception that you dont get with regular TV's.
Anyways this TV is awesome, get yourself a BJ's Wholesale, Sams Club, or Costco membership and buy it. Dell and Amazon have it too. You will not find a better TV anywhere. I have looked at the Samsung LED's many many times and honestly this TV is better. Nuff Said!"

and sorry for posting that much but OMG it needed to be said again. This is one of the ...THE Nicest picture I've seen.

another reviewer gave a great comparison between the "big-dog" in the market and i agree there as well. this is by far, at this time, THE BEST VALUE for an undeniably top 3 picture available if not the top.

Great TV with a like "you are there" picture !! Review by Road Dog

On Super Bowl Sunday I tuned on my 53" HITACHI big screen to watch the pre-game and instead of watching one image I was watching four ! I called my tech head buddy and he told me that the focus regulator probably went out, about a $500 fix. He said, after laughing for 10 minutes Costco had a great deal ($1,599.00 after a $300 in-store rebate) on a 55" LCD LED flat panel from VIZIO if I was interested. He told me if he was in the market for a new big screen, he has done the research and this would be the TV that he would buy. When it comes to electronics he has never steered me wrong.

So at 1300 hours on Super Bowl Sunday I was at Costco buying a brand new big screen! I was a hero amoung the guys that were shopping for beer and other goodies for the big game.

With help from my son and a few beers we got the TV hooked up and ready to go 45 minutes before kick off! The instructions for setup and for connecting the components were easy to follow. The HD picture is one of the best I have ever seen. This TV made the Super Bowl one to remember and thanks to VIZIO for making a great product! After working some more overtime my next purchase will be a VIZIO 42" flat panel for my bedroom! Thanks again VIZIO !!

Good review Review by Diezelpag

When I first saw this TV, I said Wow. The Price is right and it is a true Picture and sound. I have a Sony wega and it isn't even close to it. I have to get it even if I have to charge it. I got it at costco At a good price and compared to others out there which are 1000 to 2000 more. Amazing quality, again the size 55 fits where I had my Sony. I'm a happy camper Vizio Thanks.

The Future of TV Review by TriAxis

I bought this 551XVT TV fromSams Club on Thursday 02/04. They have it for 1597.00. I had to buy a Sams Club membership for 40.00 to get it, but it was worth it. If anyone is thinking about getting an LCD, get this LED instead. LED is the latest and greatest technology. LED is still just an LCD screen, but the backlighting can turn on and off is different areas to make the screen brighter or darker. This is crucial when you have a white color next to a black color. This TV has like 960 LED lights, that turn on and off in groups of 12 at a time for a total of 80 blocks. Think of a Light-Bright where the lights turn on and off 120 times a second. Not to mention the TV runs at 240 scenes per second. Its still a 120hz LCD screen, but it doesn't look like one. I have not seen hardly any motion blur at all, and when I did it was watching a low-def show. All the Hi-Def stuff looks perfect.
I did want to hold out for the 552XVT, but I'm sure that will be much more expensive. The 551XVT doesn't have bluetooth or WiFi or the Vizio internet Apps or the Qwerty Keyboard Remote. Keep that in mind when viewing their website.
