This year, several HDTV manufacturers scrapped clunky, expensive active-shutter 3-D glasses for lighter, more affordable passive ones. Vizio pioneered the switch. If you’re in the market for a new tablet, perhaps the Vizio 8 tablet might be something worth checking out, especially since the company is now offering a free 3 months subscription to Hulu Plus if you buy their tablet or if you’re an existing owner. Existing owners will need to update their app to get the free 3 months, while new owners will have the app already installed out of the box. Hulu Plus can be extended after the 3 month free period for $7.99 a month.

Hulu Plus is finally coming to the Vizio Tablet, and to celebrate users will get three months of the service for free.

Hulu Plus will be added to existing users’ Visio Tablets via a software update soon. Or, if you don’t have a Vizio Tablet yet, it will come preinstalled if you do buy the device. Either way, you’ll get three free months of Hulu Plus as soon as you launch the app on your Vizio Tablet. After the three months, you’ll of course have to pay the $7.99 a moth charge to continue with the service. Vizio’s idea is that you can use Hulu Plus on your tablet, then continue your show or movie on your Vizio TV’s Hulu Plus app.

Currently Hulu Plus subscriptions cost $7.99 per month with no commitments (contracts), but new users can sign-up for a free week (or month if you’ve got a .edu e-mail address).

The Hulu Plus application debuted on Vizio’s wallet-friendly tablet back in August, and that partnership seems to have some life in it yet. New and existing owners of the Vizio 8 tablet will be getting three free months of Hulu Plus service, presumably to lure the truly media-hungry away from other devices.
