This is my first Vizio a SV471XVT it looks so good right out of the box I could not believe it. I call all of my friends over to see it they all loved it. I wanted bigger for my living room so off the bedroom with this 47". ( would buy again) it work great for a master bedroom.
Then I had to buy the VF551XVT for the living room. Out of the box had to adjust the picture some but now it WOW the blacks are so black. Would buy both again well ( maybe not) next TV will be a VIZIO but not a 47" or 55" I want the 72" so I am looking forward to that

BEST BUY I HAVE! Review by THEGUY

I looked at SAMSUNG, SONY, SHARP and VIZIO. At first SAMSUNG was my first pick but then I found VIZIO and it looked cheap so I researched all of VIZIOS tvs and found this was the one. Why you ask, well I will tell you. Great to play games on, watch movies on and to see HD is amazing with this one. The sound was great to (It's hard to find good sound these days.) The remote is so cool and never stops working (To bad I have to use the sattlites remote the most.) Although It only has a contrast ratio of 50,000 it has stunning results. So I would recommend it to anybody. There is onemore word Ihave to say.

Quality, value and a sexy remote Review by CruzOne1

I must say, the picture on this TV is mind blowing. I passed up on a samsung 610 series and a Sony Bravia VL for the exact same price and I am not dissapointed. So many video watching options and lets be clear all LCD's have motion or pixel issues, it's the nature of the beast but I have very few issues with this TV and the 240 SPS which is the same as 24p in the Sony, LG, and Samsung just a different name. The one thing this TV has that surpases what the high end TV manufacturer will skimp on is a sleek and Sexy remote. It has black laquer on top, chrome in the middle and the battery or bottom area is charcoal with grip, you have to see it and it is very functional. Manufacturers just don't undersatnd how aesthetics mean so much to the consumer and this was another reason I chose this TV. Vizio, in the future, could you put a XVT logo in the top left corner, like the Bravia and Regza have.....I'm just saying...lol. Great buy!

LOVE THE VALUE! Review by kipandden

We just HAD to replace a 1 year old 42 inch magnavox that the motherboard went out on that we purchased at Samsclub. First let me say that Sams were GREAT! even though it was just beyond the 1 year warranty...they offered us a store credit for the entire purchase price on the magnavox for a new tv. We went with the 47 inch this time. We could not be happier! The visio is FAR superior to the magnavox in every way. Can not wait to get the 55 inch that they offer next for the walk out basement!!! BRAVO VIZIO!!!!!

THIS TV IS THE BOMB!!!! Review by Nina M

I just purchased this TV the 2nd of January 2010. I bought it at SAMS CLUB it was actually on Clearance cause it was the display and the sales rep. told me the store had i running for about 5 months and it is THE BOMB you'll enjoy the picture and sound. I also purchased the VIZIO soundbar and VIZIO blu-ray along with the tv and its like making babies "if you catch my drift"

I researched tvs for the last two years and purchased a 46inch samsung with my roommates last year 60hz 1080p for 1500, got my own house and my roommate gave me money from our tv and I went and bought the 47inch 240 vizio for 1200 at watlmart. i watched gladiator on blu ray the first night and was just in awe!!!!! the best picture, sound and price ever this tv is the best tv going right now for the technology and the price of course!!!!!

After weeks of research and reading reviews on Vizio we bought this system for our family room, I felt we needed to write about our LCD to help others who are researching and need to weed out the good and bad reviews..

for those who just want the skinny.. It is Awesome.. NO issue.. The setup (we have dish) was a snap, plugged in the receive to tv, turned on dish and TV (using vizio remote) let the wizard setup find 1 channel which is 3 for the receiver, clicked exit , Tv did a few things and it turned on with the dish receiver and TV setup and ready to go!!! Wow, that was easy...

Turned to the Dish remote and hit TV and setup the dish remote, codes were on the setup from Vizio... Way to easy...

Made some changes to the TV Audio, If your sound is loud and low off and on, then adjust the SRS.. This will change that ... Not a problem with the TV it is for HTS....

Also note your remote bottom keys can change the screen view mode..

All in ALL this TV is FIRST CLASS and is a great buy....

Watch the people who post negative about the picture and audio they did not read and adjust to their liking.. If you come across something you do not like read the guide and you will find a setting to your liking..

PS.. the WII is awesome with this TV.. and the Football setting can not be topped..

General Comments:
Just purchased this tv for our basement family room. It replaced an old rear projection tv. True, no comparison to the older technology, however, this tv is way above the competition. We have a 1080p 60hz Toshiba upstairs that we use daily. I can honestly say that the Vizio is a superior television is all respects. The picture from direct tv is so crisp it is almost 3D !! The high def. pictures from our local channels via antenna are also top shelf. Definitely recommend this tv to any looking for high quality at an affordable price.

Specifics:
1) The remote is excellent. It allows you to change the aspect ratio with one button by toggling through the choices. Also has buttons for various inputs, such as tv, hdmi and so on. We normally switch between tv and satelite (direct tv) and the remote remembers which hdmi input you last came from. So when switching, its simply a one button move. Going to the blue ray player or another dvd source, you just have to toggle it to the correct input. Way simpler than our toshiba. A fine remote, and I must say a highly attractive one too.
2) The screen looks great with equal lighting over the entire area. No dark spots at the corners or edges. I'd say its about as perfect as it can get !
3) The resolution is awsome. We watched the Alabama Florida game and were absolutely blown away by the detail and 240hz frame speed.
4) All the inputs are there. Three hdmi inputs on the back, as well as component video and optical digital audio output to our sound system. An additional hdmi is on the side for temporary input of various sources, plus a set of rca inputs. All you need is there.
5) The menu is excellent. You have the ability to setup the tv just how you want it, and can adjust the picture levels to your preference. There are presets for football, basketball, baseball, movies, and more. Again, .....amazing.

You'll be very happy with your Vizio !!

We recently upgraded from a standard flat screen TV to the Vizio SV471XVT, and were astonished by the whole experience. The picture is so pure it does not feels like one is watching TV, rather as if one is in the scene with the characters. The images appear life like. The sound is good, clear, and crisp. I especially like the equalizer. I was especially attracted to the Star Energy Compliance. Not many HDTV Flat screens are energy savers. Most use more energy that three standard TV's combined. This is a wonderful feature. Great TV recommended it to anyone.

Great Value, Great Performance Review by Matty

I bought in August after my first gen widescreen HD projection TV bit the dust. I did my best to compare models at my Costco and considered this Vizio and a comparable Bravia and Sharp, and went with the Vizio on the better price and the slight edge the 240hz and smoothness *seemed* to me to have. They were all *very close in the store. The final decider to go with a brand I hadn't tried before was Costco's companion extra warranty beyond Vizio's.

When I got it home I was SIMPLY AMAZED how much better LCD is than just 5 years ago with projection. It still floors me. HD finally has arrived for me!

My nits are two and really small:

1) The inputs on the side are convenient, but the cables don't tuck away from view easily. With such a slick licking TV it's just minorly annoying.

2) Once in a great while when I'm watching some 1080p scene on HD cable or Blu-Ray (like a tightly focused eagle swooping over a complex forest landscape) I'll see some minor artifacting. Very infrequent, but then I'm so blown away by the detail of things anyway that it just reminds how far things have come.

I did as much homework as I could before I bought it and was surprised that not only did the TV have all the inputs I needed for my soup of devices, but since the TV I've totally leapfrogged the next step to home theater PC integration and tied in my home computer via a PS3 and Tversity media server. I ended up having all the plug-ins necessary for that plus room to spare!

Vizio has arrived as a real player in the TV market and made the myth of PC and TV convergence FINALLY happen for me 10 years after I first heard the concept. Thanks Vizio!

We bought our 47" Vizio from Costco a year and a half ago and are amazed by the quality of this set. Never had anything like it. We are definitely spoiled. The image quality and sound surpasses anything we've ever owned or even seen. Great with games also. I will buy Vizio products from now on.

If vizio keeps this up I will never have to look at a Sony again! This is my 4th vizio due to kids leaving home and talking me out of them. This one will not be going anywhere. Picture quality is unmatched. Easy set up! Variety of connection types. When the cable guy came to hook my HD he stayed and watched tv for no less than 2.5 hours. He said it was the best picture he had set up!

I bought my vizio back in Febuary, yeah this is a late review. I purchased it from Sams Club and couldnt ask for a better tv. Sams had alot of tvs on display, and the 47in Vizio was no comparsion. All the other manufactures has nothing on Vizio. I have a PS3 and when i put a blue ray dvd in, the sound and picture is amazing. My wife and I are debating what size to get for our bedroom, the name brand is not an issue. Vizio won us over with the value and performance of the tv. Im waiting to get the soundbar with wireless subwoofer. Thanks Vizio for the best tv i have ever purchased!!!!!!!!!!

Amazing Vizio! Review by HDGUY

This is my 3rd Vizio LCD TV, and each time I think to myself this is the ultimate TV! Somehow Vizio continues to top the previous model at a lowet price!

Bought at Costco (always for the 90 day return & extra free year of warranty coverage) and couldnt be happier with it. As with all Vizio's, its so bright it can almost divert airline traffic over Palo Alto, CA.

I was waiting for an LED unit, mostly for the improved blacks & energy cost, but seriously the price/features of this TV make it an amazing value.

The only issue I have experienced is with the 240hz smoothing feature. I will admit, on the previous 42" Vizio, fast scenes created blur and artifacting (small squares) which I found annoying.

This Vizio has none of that, but the picture is a bit weird. Movies (Comcast HD or 1080p upscaled DVDs) look like a video from a reality TV show, or something. The image is razor (literally) sharp, but its like the image is shot with a home video camera or something. I read about this in a professional review of this TV, but didnt really get it until now.

As with every Vizio I have owned, the PC input is flawless. I have a MacBook Pro with the mini-display port and the image is, stunning.

Havent tried Blu-Ray DVDs yet, but my Apple TV at 1080p & Toshiba DVD player also 1080p look amazing. ToyStory looks really weird though with the 240hz smoothing feature.

After pulling a Bret Farve on what tv to buy I picked vizio I looked at Sony , samsung , panisonic,pioneer,and a couple of house names . Could not come close in size most 40in tvs cost more than my47IN vizio and none of the 47in tvs had 240hrz smooth motion only a couple had 120hrz . The coior is deep & rich great blacks & the remote is nice & easy to use & back light is great when watching tv in the dark also it controles all of my cable box & my amp . Also a great look &one last thing that I found a nice touch vizio included one HDMI cable. Well Sony bring it on.

Absolutely love this TV. Picture is Crisp, Bright, Sharp great colors and a good black level. Lots of features to chose from during setup. Sporting events (football, golf and baseball so far) are amazing on this TV. The HD channels from cable (when cable is working I hate Comcast and want ATT-Uverse) come in brilliantly. Tried using the USB port to play home movies from a memory stick and it worked perfectly. Sound is a little soft using the standard built in speakers thinking about buying the vizio sound bar to pair with this TV. To Vizo Tech-support should you read this, there is a compatibility issue between this TV and Motorola DCX3400 cable box (the DCT6200 works fine.) I have verified this with Comcast we tried 4 different brand new boxes all with the same results. If you try and change the channel to an HD channel above 180 you get no sound unless you turn the TV off than back on again. I did not have that problem with the DCT6200 that box worked accept the hard drive went bad for the DVR. It is not a HDMI cable issue I tried several new cables and all had the same result. Motorola and Vizio need to get together and work this out it really is a pain to have to turn the TV on and off to get sound with the DCX3400 HD cable box.

I bought this TV after looking at reviews and specs of all available LCD tv products, in the 46" - 47" size range. Only had it for a week, but very impressive for dollar spent. I was most impressed with the fact that, when removed from the packaging, and plugged into Direct TV with an HDMI cable and powered on, the TV went straight to set up, and was operational in 5 minutes!!! Great color, good sound, nice remote...and all in all a great tv! The blacks could be blacker, but hockey, golf and football look fabulous, with few (if any) motion pixilation issues. Buy this tv!

Best televisions I have ever owned. Purchased at Costco and Sams Club. Great playback, picture is awesome and the remote is simple to use. Even my wife likes to use it. As a matter of fact, we liked it so much that I went out and purchased two 32 inch sets for my sons, ( they use them as computer monitors, for gaming as well as for regular viewing) and we just got a 37 inch set for the master bedroom. We are now a Vizio family and are very happy with your product. A grand slam guys, keep up the good work.

I've been reading reviews about Vizio products and decided purchase an SV471XVT and I'm really glad I did. I can't find anything about this TV I don't like it. The picture is unbelievable, the blacks are are blacker the any tv i've seen and the contrast so good movies almost look 3d. I've always been a Sony man, but no more, the quality of this tv is as good as any Sony and the price makes it an awsome buy. This is not only a great tv for the money, it's great period and it's assembled in in the US. Keep up the good work Vizio.
