I love this TV, but I have had issues. The first TV ended up having to be replaced. The HDMI quit working on the TV. Vizio quickly had a new TV to my door installed! Great Service!
Well a few months have passed and the new TV is acting up. The TV turns itself off once in a while and the vizio light flashes for a little over a minute and then it turns itself back on.
The picture quality and sound on the TV are top notch and I hope that this issue is easy to resolve.(Posted on 12/15/10)

I had a Sony, but screen refress was to slow @ 60HZ for my Wife, I checked all Specifications. Went to Tigerdirect, I had her check all TV's.
I liked the look of Vizio, most medical clinics have them in London, Ont.
I always do an indepth research on anything I find interesting. The Vizio had 100% of what I required, 240HZ, Smooth Flow, my wife was very satisfied and no Problem with picture. On our old TV she could see top of face moving out of skew with rest of face, she taught this was normal.
Set up so easy, incredible, I was not sure what widgets were, excellent..
Very Satisfied with this TV..
Will be looking for Projector so I hope I find one on line.(Posted on 10/23/10)

I would like to say that this unit is a revelation....so I will.
I am not your average buyer, I only buy new equipment when the old breaks down. I tend to buy good stuff that last a long time. My last new TV was 11 years ago and it was a tube model. In looking for a replacement I was bound by the constraints of the cabinet I have, which was purchased with my last TV. So the maximum size I could get was 41" across.
I have older equipment but was looking for something that will not only support the older stuff (yes I still have a VHS player) but the new stuff as it is added.
The hookups on this unit are exceptional, everything from Coax to HDMI and rj45.
So I unhooked the old TV, and with the help of my friends resigned it to the trash heap. I hooked up the new unit in minutes, positioned it and went through the setup. It hooked up to my wireless network without a hitch, configured the screen and inputs and was sitting watching a show within minutes.
We are old movie watchers as much as anything and we chose an old black and white for the first viewing, we were blown away!. Everything is extra crisp, like looking at it out a window, live. Even the older movies have new life and vitality.
I have read a number of reviews and, like everything else where there is an opinion, some are in favor of, and some are against any given topic. I can say that if I do not experience any of the negative issues that I have seen in older models, I will be thrilled with this for a long time.
Incidentally, originally I went to Sam's club to see the lesser 120 Mhx model that was $10 cheaper than at Wal-mart and got this as an un-advertised buy. They only had a few, and it did not even show on their website, but boy am I glad we decided to take one more look before pulling the trigger.
What a unit!(Posted on 8/1/10)
- Best Buy in HDTV! Review by Big Dave
-
I bought this TV on Sunday 5/16/10 @ Sam's Club for $830 to replace a Magnavox 42" Plasma that died on me the same day after only 4 years of heavy use.
So, my first experience with an HDTV did not go too well. Yes, I used my TV for everything from Blu-ray movies to HD Gaming but that is still too short of a life span. In contrast, I can't kill my old 32" CRT. Why did I choose a Vizio? Well I must give credit to my wife as she wanted to get a Vizio as our next HDTV after seeing how much better the picture was next to the more expensive Sony's back around Christmas. I took her word for it and she was right, the picture is great and the sound is better than expected but I had pretty low expectations coming from my Plasma which had horrible, tinny-sounding speakers. To first test out the new TV, I used only Component cables since that was all I had on hand for HD but that is what I had used before so it was good to see a Component comparison between the sets to start with rather than going right into the premium connection type. I have since bought (4) HDMI cables, 1 for each HDMI Input. Right away there was a noticeable picture improvement, much more detail is viewable using the HDMI cables, at least to me.
There are a ton of picture adjustments you can make but the factory settings are correct for the most part. I actually tried to calibrate my system but in the end it looked too washed out and I reset to the factory picture settings. For now I am just using the preset Picture Modes as they look the best to my eye. I may revist this in the future but I think they did a good job with their picture settings they included. The setup was easy and I was able to program my DirecTV HD DVR (4th choice), connect to my Wireless-N router and register the TV without any problems. The internet apps are great and this is highly recommended for all NetFlix customers. The TV also has the best audio I have ever heard from TV speakers. I use my Surround Sound system normally but now I don't have to for everything. I appreciate all the connections and was a little worried about it only (1) Component connection but with (4) HDMI connections, I currently do not even have anything connected to it. Everything is labeled clearly and the remote is by far the best I have seen packaged with a TV. Black levels looked good right out of the box. Sets with only 120 Hz selling for much more.
Pros-
Picture: 240 Hz SPS, 50,000:1 DCR, Preset Picture Modes look good
Sound: SRS TruSurround HD™ & SRS TruVolume™, best stock sound
VIA™: VIZIO Internet Apps™, connect to the internet without a computer!
Remote: Universal w/ slide-out keyboard, best stock remote I have ever seen
Connections: (4) HDMI plus all previous technology connections
Green: Energy Star 3.0
Weight: Lightweight, easy to move w/ 1 person, much lighter than my Plasma
Setup: Basic setup to view a picture and connect to internet very easy
Casing/Trim: Very attractive black display. Silver
Customer service: From what I have read they are very helpful
Cons-
USB: Service only, Future Use
Cables: Need to buy your own, check Monoprice & Amazon, don't pay more than $10 ea for HDMI cables, I bought (4) Mediabridge Ultra Series - 6ft High Speed HDMI Cable - Category 2 Certified - Supports 3D - 1440p - 1080p - Blu-Ray - PS3 - XBox 360
Issues:
Input: When turning the TV on or switching Inputs, mostly with my HD DVR I get a gray screen have to change the channel for it to clear. Not sure who's fault this is, TV or HD DVR since switching to 1080p but it is annoying.
Component Setup Notes:
Step 1: First off, turn off all systems before plugging in any cables, incl. the TV itself, trust me.
Step 2: Connect all cables from all systems to the TV. Make sure to connect that extra Composite cable to the PS3, if you have one. Also connect any additional audio cables such as optical from your sources to your TV or your Surround Sound receiver. Note: For the Xbox 360, you will need to use a special adapter which contains an optical output plus RCA red/white outputs. The other end is the big connector which connects directly to the Xbox 360.
Step 3: Turn on the TV and the systems and go through each Input, 1 by 1, to set everything up, my systems are listed below, maybe this will help you:
3a. DirecTV HD DVR [HR21-200]- (HDMI) Go into setup & select the HDTV tab, then pick TV Resolutions, click on 1080p. You may experience some trouble at first, I displayed a pink screen but the confirmation text was still displayed. To fix this go under HDTV>Video, set Native to Off which helps to eliminate the issue with a Pink screen being displayed. You may also need to switch inputs to clear the pink screen, just select another device using the Input button and then go back to the D*TV HD DVR Input, this should clear it.
3b. PS3 - (HDMI) This was the trickiest system to hookup, because it is not simply plug & play. Find your PS3 Composite (not Component) connector that came with your PS3, good luck finding it!, the HDMI input connection will not display on its own. Connect this cable to the AV connections, really just the Video is needed. Select the AV Input on the TV and it should detect that an HDMI connection exists, if you have an HDMI cable connected. Click on the HDMI choice to set the HDMI input. Now turn off the PS3 and then back on. Switch the TV Input to the corresponding HDMI connection to the PS3 and it should display in 1080p. On the PS3, select Settings>Display Settings>Video Output Settings>HDMI>Change>Check all resolutions supported by your TV (Standard (NTSC), 480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p, next set the TV type: 16:9. Save settings (press X). Next go to Settings>Display Settings>RGB Full Range (HDMI)>Full. Next go to Settings>Display Settings>Y Pb / Cb Pr / Cr Super-White (HDMI)>On. If settings this to on, you will also need to go to Settings>Video Settings>BD / DVD Video Output Format (HDMI)>Automatic. Onto the sound, go to: Settings>Sound Settings>Audio Multi-Output>On, if using multiple audio connections like Optical & HDMI. This will enable you to use your TV and/or your Surround Sound. Next go to Settings>Sound Settings>Select all the audio output formats that your equipment can support. That should cover the basic PS3 HD setup.
3c. Xbox 360 - Xbox Dashboard>System>Console Settings>Display>Display Settings>HDTV Settings>1080p, keep settings, if screen can be seen. Now go to Xbox Dashboard>System>Console Settings>Display>Display Settings>Reference Levels>Expanded. Now onto the sound - Xbox Dashboard>System>Console Settings>Audio>Audio Settings>Dolby Digital 5.1. That's it, much simpler than the PS3.
3d. Upconverting DVD player - I have it connected but I haven't used it yet so no notes here. It should be plug and play but there might be some setup in the menus for the new HDMI connection established.
3e. JVC Surround Sound (Optical) - I actually don't use the Optical connection on the TV, I just use the Optical connections on each system directly to the receiver: HD DVR, PS3, 360. If there are no HDMI connections on your receiver, there is no need to have any video cables connected.
3f. Wireless-N router - Connect wirelessly or wired, your choice. Since both the TV and the router are stationary devices and I had a spare Cat-6 cable and port available, I chose to use the Ethernet port on the back of the TV.
TV setup notes:
Firmware - If you are connected to the internet, see Wireless-N setup above, the first time you power the TV off, it should perform a Firmware update and the VIZIO logo on the front of the TV will be flashing. DO NOT touch the TV, wait for it to power itself off before using it. You can verify that it was updated in the Information section below
Audio - You need to turn off the SRS Trusurround HD to get the equalizer to show. It is under Audio in the User Manual.
Inputs - I recommend renaming all the inputs so you can visually discern each one esp. with 4 HDMI Inputs, it gets confusing. Also, setup the remote for all the devices that you can. For now I only have the D*TV HD DVR programmed. I couldn't get the PS3 to work on the remote.
Information - Click the VIA button on remote, Select Help, Select System Information. Here you can check your Firmware version, IP Address, MAC Address, etc.

Recommendation: Buy now! Perfect for Sports, Video Gaming, scripted TV, Movies and Internet-viewing. Price can't be beat for all of the features offered. Buy @ Sam's Club, BJ's, Amazon & more, priced @ $830-$949.(Posted on 5/20/10)
- universal remote Review by I love my TV

connecting the remote control to peripherals fairly straight forward. the newer features of this TV versus other tvs with multiple inputs are great. simple things like being able to label my inputs is perfect. I have not yet tried all the online functionality yet, but I can see its potential.
I had a 27" RCA for at least 8 years. I am sure that I wont have to replace this one for much longer. I would most likely be adding to this device; another TV, a blue-ray, etc.(Posted on 5/2/10)

Well after much reviews on LCD's... I picked this up @ costco for 850.00. I have a Samasung in my family room & in my bedroom. This set is a sight to be seen. It plays as good it not better than the samsung. I have a PS3 & a XBOX360 on it. Plays everything like better. Crisp! I have it hooked up wifi & use VUDU for HDX movies. OMG is all I can say. I sit there & shake my head at what a great job this TV does. My only gripe is the remote... A bit small for typing & no back-light and also no real way to see what setting the current device is on Vivid etc... Otherwise without question this TV blew my mind. Also note the sound is great to boot. Pick one up if you are looking you will be very happy with it!

- Most incredible picture Review by papatater

I already had a 32" Toshiba hdtv that I thought needed replaced (needless to say, it was just locked up). We had bought my father-in-law a Vizio for xmas last year, so we knew the picture was good & price reasonable. After searching all other stores & prices, we found the SV422XVT at Costco for $850. Not only was this good for other 42" tv's, but this was for 240, not 60hz. Plus Costco automatically gave a 2yr warranty, & everyone else only 1 yr.
After getting home & setup, we found this was much, much better than expected. The picture on this is incredible due to the smooth-motion reduction. It makes everything stand out & increases the clarity way beyond hi-definition. It looks like you are actually filming movies/tv shows & not just watching. It actually is too real. Some movies you thought were great, & now look like b-movies due to the clarity. You can see how they used models & the special effects (if this gets too intense, just turn off the motion reduction). My brother came over & stated after just a brief glance "it's like watching it thru a window". That is the best response I could give it.
The apps are cool, but a little limited. The yahoo apps give only brief info & not able to read the entire articles. Downloaded some trailers & great to not have to use something else like a blu-ray player to see them or movies. It would be nice to add a basic browser to go to the sites we want.
Needless to say, after we realized our Toshiba didn't have a problem, there was no way in the world we would take our Vizio back!(Posted on 4/27/10)

I bought our television on QVC for 849 after i had purchased a Toshiba that had electrical issues and had to return it. Thank goodness! This television is HANDS DOWN a better product than Toshiba offered. It cost as much as Vizio but was only 120hz and only 40"!! thank you Vizio for producing this television. My 16 yr. old ties up the computer all the time and with the internet apps we don't have to make her get off of it to order our Netflix or look at updates on Facebook. It is wonderful thanks for the great television.

- New Vizio w/internet apps Review by Debbie

Just bought this tv last week. . .shopped online for 3 months comparing different brands, quality, etc. Settled on Vizio (as another reviewer said, it's "the most bang for your buck"); gotta say, I absolutely love it. I set it up with our local cable company's HD programming, set up my home theater system, etc, wall mounted it. . . .all fairly easy to do. The only thing I struggled with is the PIP function, which Vizio tech support walked me through every step of the way. It was a little complicated and I couldn't have done it with just the info in the manual. The tech support from Vizio is awesome! I'm so glad I invested in this tv, and for anyone considering it - if you can find it, buy it. You will not be disappointed. Beautiful picture, great quality, the internet functions are easy to use and fun to have. . . .I can order Netflix right from my tv, stream internet music, check the stocks, weather, go on Facebook, Twitter, etc! I feel like it was worth every penny I paid for it.

We just got our 42" and set it up in my new renovated man cave. Have never in my life owned a TV this great. At first was afraid of Vizio, but my son who knows about technology told me to buy it. After doing some research myself on the net and seeing that Vizio holds 20% of USA market share with all the other players out there, I was very impressed. My plan now is to buy your Blu-ray. Thank you Vizio

- Outstanding! Review by BIGJOHN
-
This is my third Vizio purchase since Christmas, and it is without a doubt the MOST spectacular. The image, widgets, and value add up to the best set on the market today. After researching for about a year, I bought my mother a 32" ECO for her bedroom, myself a 320XVT for my bedroom, and the 422XVT for the family room. Each has setup and performed flawlessly. I was trying to wait for a 372XVT, but I couldn't wait any longer so I bought the 422XVT. A great decision, since Mrs. BIGJOHN is very pleased with its size and performance; and when mama is happy, everyone is happy. BIGJOHN.

- Amazing TV. Review by Adam

I have had this TV for about 2 weeks now and I couldn't be happier. At first I wasn't interested in the Vizio brand, but after comparing specs and pricing you can't go wrong. When watching HD shows you almost feel like you are in the room with the actors with the clarity of the screen. The widgets are also nice to have but could offer some more options. Most people probably won't use half the widgets they offer at this time but Vizio is always adding more to the selection. By far after 2 months of research I am extremely pleased with this TV and would recommend Vizio to anyone that is looking for a new TV.

- Far from Garbage Review by Scot

My girlfriend and I had been looking for a T.V. for awhile now due to the fact that the HUGE Sony tube was just a pain to move around. My Father bought last years model and it was a nice T.V. My buddy , who works in the field of home or commercial installs of home entertainment told me "Don't buy Vizio. They are Junk and absolute garbage!" Well He was wrong. We bought the new SV4222XVT for $850 at BJ's Wholesale and it kicks some serious butt. When I invited my friend over to check out our new T.V. his jaw dropped. He was so impressed with this T.V. that he comes over to watch baseball because "none of his T.V.'s look that good". And the wireless internet is awesome! when I want to check the weather it's right there for my town, my brother's,parents, girlfriend's brother, anywhere we want to check it's there. My friend now wants to buy the same T.V. I made a believer out of him.

- Worth the wait Review by kfergus
-
After comparing basic specs with other LEDs of same screen size, I decided this was the best value around, but then had to wait 4-5 weeks while local Sam's Club restocked. So popular, there were none in stock at any Sam's or Walmart within 75 miles, or on Amazon!
It was worth the wait when the restocked model included the internet apps!
Picture is great; near 3D if with digital HD signals programming Vizio feature of speakers out front, mean you don't have to turn it up as high to bounce enough sound into the room. And we can easily download movies that were in the theaters just last week.
Definitely recommend this one!

- PICTURE PERFECT - PERIOD! Review by ShopGirl
-
I purchased the SV422XVT to replace the year old 37" VIZIO in our bedroom mainly for it's Internet app's and the desire connecting to Netflix without needing the instant streaming disk/PS3 as before. And couldn't be happier my did! But in lieu of otherwise repeating all those so many positives already made by everyone, let me say just this ... If you can "FIND IT"..."BUY IT"! Trust me, you won't be sorry! I purchased our tv from Amazon.com on March 23 and had it 3 days later, delivered right to our bedroom and removed from the box using their standard shipping upgrade ($35). America ... you gotta love it!

- Best set in this price range by far Review by Dinqua
-
I am a professional AV & IT guy all my life and this TV is by far the coolest TV I have ever owned. And that's saying a lot since I worked for Sony for years and always got their top of the line equipment at huge discounts, although usually the professional or broadcast stuff not usually available. And this set still blows the Sony's in the same price away. Half the cost of the Bravias and in my opinion, best bang for the buck out there.Sure, the $15k Sony plasma stuff is better, but come on, this was only $848 at BJs. Can't beat that with a stick.
I love the cool widgets and the NetFlix is freakin awesome.(Posted on 3/29/10)
- Your Wait is Over - Get This TV Review by Edward
-
I waited a long time to buy a TV, my last purchase being in 1992. I was waiting for this model with the VIA apps and it was worth it. The picture is beautiful, the applications (Netflix. Pandora, etc) are fun and useful and I look forward to more apps coming soon.
I also must comment on the VIZIO team. All my interactions with the company have been top-notch and they made sure I was satisfied every step of the way (which was easy to do.)
So if you're on the fence about this model, I would say go for it. It's not too expensive, the reviews are consistently good and you're missing good programming - both online and over the cable. You won't regret it.

Awesome picture sound, ease of set-up & fair price too! Only wish I could add from internet to APPS, like play-on for more channel options.
Love it!(Posted on 3/22/10)

This was not our first big screen TV but it is by far, the best! Were looking for a light weight flat screen for Wii parties in the game room but this is being used daily in the bedroom and can easily be moved for parties. Very affordable - kid at Sam's Club didn't have to push this one on us but he was very knowledgeable.
Wifi was too simple - every part of setup was easy. Love the ZOOM feature, almost appears to be 3D. The SRS tru volume ACTUALLY WORKS! No more commercials waking her up if I want to stay up later.
Talk about easy - we have a Netflix account and the instant queues are just a button push away! I'm an IT person and this technology is just too cool.(Posted on 3/16/10)

I bought my set at sams club for 848 plus tax, we set the tv on my wall and just looks awsome I have every thing running through the hdmi ports and it makes everything look amazing, I got PS3, Xbox360,Comcast, and even my Nintendo wii looks great using component cables, their 240Hz technology is breathtaking everything this tv offers to me has fulfilled everything I ever wanted from a tv: great picture, 240hz, Internet with wifi, apps, netflix and all the inputs that it provided so this tv is a great buy and sams club has it the cheapest so far for $848

TV's have been pretty boring over the recent times until now! HDTV is now old hat though it's now time to get on board if you are waiting for a better reason. Some key words include Integration of everything. The merger of devices, Internet, and just a great LCD TV and energy efficient too. Add to that one remote to rule them all easily and it's prime time for all the hold outs (like me). The remote alone is a marvel.
Things are well thought out and the setup do more than anticipated. The remote has fewer buttons and works all my devices. The slide out full alpha key board aids a lot of cool features too.You need those features to be on the Internet with the n20 included applications.
The setup starts when you power up and walks you through adding devices. The remote walks you through integration of all the devices and the remote to control them. I was impressed that my Direct TV remote is now a side show sitting in a box. The auto-magic recognition and configuration is as simple as you would like it to be but never had until now.
Internet integration is really quite new but with the new Vizio it's just made to be integrated. Internet application on the same level as the TV settings.
The Internet setup works well but not perfect considering it just tries to do it all auto-magic. Most laptop computers don't do that well. I did get it doing 802.11N working quite well. You can't get that with anything else I know of at least in the same box without a technician included.

We had a 50" Samsung 720P HDTV and it had a good picture. We decided to downsize to this 42" Vizio LCD 1080P HDTV, because we live in an Apartment. I didn't know how I would adjust losing that much picture size, but I am totally fine with it. The major selling point was the 240 HZ refresh rate which makes sports and action scenes blur- free, which is great in itself. The HD channels are scary realistic. It looks as though the people are in 3D, and are about to jump out of the tv screen. It takes a few minutes to get used to. Even our regular digital channels that were only so-so on our Samsung plasma, are very close to hd quality. Hats off to my wife, cause she talked me into making this purchase. Both of us could hardly believe our eyes how much clearer the 1080P is, compared to our 720P. Purchased this VIZIO today at Sam's Club for a mere $926. Both of us are happy campers. This TV ROCKS :)

I reviewed this TV and decided to buy it at Costco. Well....a lot of other people had the same idea. This TV sold very fast at Costco within 2 days. I was happy to find that Sam's Club had 6 in stock. Lucky for me. This TV was so easy to set up and has a great picture on all channels. I do not have HD set up but I still get a great picture. The sound is awesome and it looks great mounted on my bedroom wall. I really have not had experience with brand and only knew of 1 person who did. I brought a 55 inch Mitsubishui early last year in 2009. I spent a lot of money for that TV and now wonder if Vizio would have been a better choice, money wise. I totally recommend this TV and model. OUTSTANDING addition to your line of TV's. Way to go Vizio!

I am happy about my TV, pre-ordered from Amazon before release. Image is amazing, surround sound great, and love the VIA apps - but would love a more streamlined apps update process, such as to get notified when new apps are available. Also very interested in Bluetooth support (I want to pair my Mac to the TV via bluetooth but this is not supported yet).

Just bought this TV 3 days ago and Im totally 100% satisfied with everything it has to offer. The refresh rate, perfect....the wireless apps, awesome.....the picture, crystal clear....honestly, I could go on for quite some time telling you how great this TV is. My roommate just bought a Samsung LED HDTV for $700 dollars more and I can't find anything that makes them that much different. For $900 bucks....I honestly feel like I've gotten away with larceny here. If anybody out there is reading this and is considering buying this TV....do it. Definitely the best TV out there for the money. Thanks VIZIO!

Purchased this from Amazon on a preorder before it was released. It was definitely worth the wait! I set the TV up myself with the on screen step by step guide, even the wifi was very easy to setup, especially with the keypad on the remote! Great picture, even on an angle. Quite a few great apps with more to come. Very cool TV.
