Really like this Tv but not Controller died in 6 mounths Review by Israel

Hi I bought my first LED TV on 2/1/11 and it still looks great. I've always get good compliments frequently but sadly to say the remote controller died on me in 6 to 7 mouth from purchase. I would recommend this TV but VIZIO make a better controller fast. Thanks

Great TV Bad remote Review by wiiggwams

I have had this TV for about a year and a half. It has a great picture and best TV I have owned. I liked it so much I bought the 55" a couple months ago. The only problem is the remote just quit working as mentioned in several other review. It is just not sending a signal. I tried changing the batteries but it is dead. This TV really needs this remote. It is an unfortuanate defect.

Great TV but Remote Defective Review by TVTime

Great tv. Once you have a web enabled tv like the Vizio - you will not want to have anything else. The picture is great and I would buy another. The problem is the remote control. It just stopped working for no reason. Frustrating as the tv needs its own remote to be fully useful and functional. Also, it is very unclear how to order another one. Based on the other reviews, there is clearly a problem here the company needs to deal with....

Great TV, but... Review by Ursan

I really like this TV, I can only imagine that the newer sets are even better. However...

It'd be nice if Vizio would stop sending out updates while the set is in use. I've been keeping track of the version that the set has from time to time. Just today @ 1:45pm my set shut down while in the middle of a movie and it restarted and sure enough, the software had been updated. At first it was a nuisance, I understand that there are patches and stability fixes, but can Vizio PLEASE either stop sending out these updates are hours that people might be using the set or even better, let the END USER decide if they want the update installed. At one point I was able to use this with my MAC, however because of a recent update, I can no longer use a specific screen resolution which forced me to dig out an extra monitor to reset the resolution. Vizio needs to realize that some of it's customers like their sets the way they are and don't need these constant updates.

Great TV for the money! Been waiting for USB ports to become enabled. from what I read above the ports are on active but I live in the country and do not have wireless internet or internet period at my home. Is there a way I can download the firmware and then update to the unit?

STLL A GREAT TV FOR THE $$ & QUALITY AFTER NEARLY A YEAR Review by TONY

I have had this HDTV (SV472XVT) for almost a year now. It was my 1st HDTV & Pondered over MANY MANY BRANDS. With ALL THE OPTIONS & ALL OF THE ADDITIONAL CONNECTIONS along WITH having the Internet, just put this one over the top!! ONLY PROBLEM I HAVE (which I need to get repaired before my 1 year warranrty runs out) is my Remote. Yes its cool to have a Slide Out Remote, but my Slider has broke in a couple of places, so it needs to be repaired, BUT THATS that ONLY Complaint I have had, save for ONE UPDATE, that Vizio did, that killed my settings for my Sony Surround Sound & I have not taken the time to reconfigure. The Surround sound of this TV is great as is. One reason I have not taken the time to reconfigue my Surrond Sound as the sound on this TV IS GREAT without an aftermarket surround sound! Now need to get a TV for my bedroom, & YES IT WILL BE ANOTHER VIZIO!! Thanks for making such a great HDTV at an affordable PRICE!!

Bought this set from Costco about 1 & 1/2 years ago & needless to say the set is still producing stunning pictures. A couple of Vizio issued software updates (which occur automatically via WiFi) had produced some undesirable results, but were quickly resolved by Vizio with subsequent updates - which they typically dispatched within a week or 2 of their problemed updates - kudos to Vizio!

I would dare to place the picture quality of this set up against most any of similar technology out there (i.e. LCD, with LED array backlighting, 120Hz category). I definitely have no regrets about this purchase - which for it's day when this set was first being offered was attractively priced at Costco....which was too good to pass up after they offerred a $200 price drop on this model ; ) Would buy a Vizio TV again, especially if the sucessfully Vizio lasts as long as my trouble prone S*****g DLP set!

ok im 19 im all about electronics and ive been looking at tvs for awhile now for my graduation presnt to myself. i was oringlly going to buy a plasma or lcd becouse im low on budget and i walk into walmart one day and saw this tv on the bottom shelf and it was marked off 40 percent becouse it was a display model but led last forever pretty much so i thoought to myself "it was just worming up" so it was around 655 and i couldnt have dreamd for something like this!! i had to have it!!! best present to me ever period. its amazing i love everything about it expt walmart put in the wrong remote so there is no keyboard :[ and no stand but its all good i bought myslef a intragrated tv stand and it my new obsession!!!! i dont have any fancy game systems but im planing on buying myself a ps3 here pretty soon i cant wait.

I LOVE VIZIO Review by Jono

I love the aesthetics and style of Vizio. This TV just seemed to be a pioneer version of what there is to come in the future. The company was way ahead of other companies when it came to Wi-Fi, Internet Apps, and slide-out keypad remotes etc. The remote DEFINITELY could use a lighted up keyboard. Soon it will all be touch-screen soon though I am sure. What bothered me was the limitations on facebook browsing. Not being able to browse your own videos or older videos of others unless posted gets a little annoying. I think Vizio should make the browsers for those essential apps a little more user friendly... I previously had SV420M-C LCD TV and the smooth motion, enhanced frame rate seemed to be better and make everything look more real. There were a lot of people that thought it looked TOO real (like behind the scenes footage or cheap british television), but you look at most new 1080p televisions and they are all doing the same thing now. Seems like Vizio went backwards with the status quo. I also enjoyed the simplicity and style of my old remote as well. There are a few cons but for the most part I think Vizio is slightly above Samsung for #1. I only wish there were more apps and products available in Canada, but what can you expect from a company that has only recently started... I doubt I would turn to anything other than vizio though. I am a loyal customer and only look forward to what this company has to offer in the future.

Remote needs help Review by Mike

The TV is great, picture, sound, connections and wireless connection to my wi-fi. The remote blue-tooth must drain the batteries from the remote. I change batteries about once a month. Now just after the warranty expires the remote is dead. This remote does not reflect on the quality of the TV. Glad I bought this set.

I am impressed with the setup, picture and sound so far. It's been 4 days and I have really enjoyed it. The wireless setup was seamless. With all settings at the defaults, the picture looks great and the sound is better than expected. The various picture modes give me preset options to sample. It's my first HD TV so a lot of the terminology is new to me but does not seem to matter much since the defaults seem to be great options. I have not tried the online stuff yet but I plan to soon. I connected my stereo and Blue Ray and it was easy and fast with HDMI cables.

FANTASTIC TV FOR THE PRICE Review by Susanne

Just purchased this TV yesterday. The picture is CRISP and CLEAR. We have another 37" Vizio and just love it so we decided to buy a second one. Set up was easy. Internet access was also easy. And Yes, the TV did save my internet sign on from our home network. We have a new CISCO router so access is fast. The Apps are easy to navigate as well. There are a lot of apps to choose from on the favorites bar at the bottom. We hope the USB ports will be accessable this fall as told to us by Vizio. We are still working on making this our universal remote. However, the Dish remote is still very useful. The sound is crystal clear. This was a very good purchase for us. We are very happy with it. You just can't go wrong with this particular model. Even though it is only 2 million to 1 contrast ratio; the picture quality is great. Couldn't justify the price for the 10 million to 1 ratio on a step up model. Thanks Vizio. Keep up the good work.

I've been having problems with my 22" Samsung LCD the past few months, so I decided to do a major upgrade on my set. I bought this model for a STEAL on ebay (under $1000!!!) and it arrived yesterday afternoon. I consider myself a "techie", and had it up and running (connected to my HD cable box, PS3, and wifi) in about half an hour, right on time for "The Office." The picture is just amazing! Same for my PS3 games. I can't WAIT to watch Ironman 2 on bluray! Played around with the apps briefly; the Netflix app was easy to set up, but haven't viewed content on it, yet. A YouTube app would be a nice addition.I plan on getting a wall mount in the future, but by FAR the best buy on an LED LCD TV you could ask for. I'm glad I went Vizio!

I finally broke down and bought my first big screen TV. I did a lot of research and was scared to death of making a high dollar bad decision. Well, problem solved! My wife & I have a 19" vizio in our bedroom and have always been impressed and happy with that TV, so I decided to go with vizio again. The SV472XVT LCD/LED/HDTV could not have been a better choice! Ease of setup & use was a huge plus. The internet APPS are totally cool, but most of all the picture & sound quality of this TV just makes me salivate for Game day and to see my Chiefs in their brilliant red like I've never witnessed before. Thanks for an awesome product with a truly incredible price from Sam's Club. Even though I've only had it two days I'm totally stoked with my purchase!!!

I have had my television for close to a year now and I'm more and more impressed as the time goes by. Reason being; when you first receive the t.v. you will notice the great picture and awesome sound right off, but when you start picking out the apps you want and realizing how easy it is to use them, wow! Also, what impresses me most is that vizio keeps giving you more apps to choose from. All you do is check the widget app to see if there are any new ones. I like the weather apps, because you can see the forcast, radar and many others things. Best thing is: no more waiting for local on the eights. I love streaming netflix directly through this big screen. It looks great and you can sort through movies on the television and not have to even go to the computer. You can stream new dvd releases from Amazon (for a cost per movie) which is nice because it saves you a trip to the video store and the movie is never sold out! A lot of great things with one t.v. and all for a reasonable price. The bluetooth remote is great also, no more having to point the remote directly at the t.v. to get it to work. I like the deep black that you get from this t.v. It is everything that it says it is and more.

I purchased my Amazing Vizio 5 months ago and have had nothing but fun times with it so far. The picture is just unbelievable and the sound is on a whole new level compared to other TV's. I mean if you crank this baby up it sounds like you have a surround sound system hooked up to it. Gaming on this TV is also another story, I personally have a 360 and PS3 and both of these systems work fantastic and look gorgeous on this screen. NOW, with all that said I do have a complaint(ugh sorry). For some reason about a month ago my HDMI 1 port decides it wants to stop showing me picture for a while, I get sound but a black screen. This has started to happen often and it happens only when the TV is just turned on, but can stay like this for hours. I have no clue as to why it does this because if i switch my HDMI cable to port 2 or 3 the picture comes in fine, so obviously there's something wrong with port 1. This is the only problem I've been having and besides that little set back the TV is PERFECT! I have also connected my laptop and used the AV and Comp. Inputs which all work perfect as well.

In short you can NOT go wrong with this TV, I'm sure I just have a bad one, it does happen and I plan on getting it fixed. I researched my decision before buying and if you have access to a SAM'S CLUB, that is your best route for saving some dough. Now everyone show VIZIO some lovin' and give them a round of applause for this work of art :)

This is my first HD TV and I am amazed. Had it up and running in 30 minutes. The picture is awesome ! I thought about tweaking the picture, but it's so good with the factory defaults, I've left it alone. I did over 2 months research before purchasing, and I'm extremely satisfied with this TV. Yes, there are more expensive TV's out there, but , for the price I paid at Sam's, this TV provides the best value!

It is energy star with the best picture I have seen. I own 4 other flat screen tv's and I can't wait to upgrade them all to Vizio. This tv is by far outstanding in it's class quality and pricing. I picked up this TV, or rather had it shipped to my door, about 4 weeks ago and I have to say that as the owner of a few LCD TVs and a HDTV owner since 2005, this is one impressive TV. By far the best picture I have seen on any TV on the market for LCD/LED. The apps are not very useful but fun nonetheless and the sound is perfectly adequate. But once again I have to say that the picture quality was truly amazing. Tested it out on the free HDX VuDu movie app that comes with the TV (HD IMAX Under The Sea) and it was shockingly clear and crisp and even looked almost 3D at times. I highly recommend this TV and at the price, you simply cant go wrong.

I've owned this TV for 4 months now and it's great. So much more bang for your buck than other "name" brands. Picture quality, sound , wireless connectivity, are all great. My only negative comment would be that all 3 USB ports are not functional at this time. USB connectivity was a factor in my purchase and I hope Vizio will enable these ports soon.

I've had my SV472XVT for a couple weeks now and have found myself glued to it. I use the Internet apps all the time and have connected my PC to it via HDMI. Surfing the web in 47" of HD is the only way to go. I only have two things I wish I could do with it that I can't, 1) use the USB ports. THe unit has 3 USB ports and I can't use them. 2) I can't do a PIP with my HDMI ports. I would like to be able to do a PIP with my PC and cable service.. I am hoping that both of these options will be available in future firmware releases. Those to things aside, I brag about my Vizio all the time. :-)

Was Worth The Wait!!!! Review by BartmanLA

I got this model during the VIA VIP promotional campaign, so I got the free BR player and Soundbar. The delivery was fantastic, it was opened to check for damage by the delivery people, I didn't have to lift a finger. Set up was a snap, HDMI cables are a godsend. Since this was my very first big screen HDTV, I was not prepared for the difference, I literally sat there staring at the screen and was blown away how crisp, clear and bright it was! I have had it for about 3 months now and I still marvel at how wonderful it looks, and the quality of the workmanship of the unit is top notch too, fit and finish are very professional looking, the heat output is very low as well. Everyone that see's the TV comments on how great the picture is, and they are very impressed with the VIA Apps too, they're so fun to play with and use. Netflix streaming is flawless, Pandora works great, I have a HTPC connected to it as well so web surfing and playing media files is incredibly good! I have recommended this model to a number of people and 3 others have purchased a Vizio LED model and are just as happy as I am. VIZIO you Rock!

PIcked this Great TV up at Sams about 3 weeks ago. I LOVE IT! It had been looking and reading about all HDTV's since Jan. and I decided this was the one for me. I went to store and looked at it, not even close to the great picture I had when I hooked this up at home. Easy to get out of box, easy hook up, it leads you through it all. Hooked up to my 5.1 system and I could not get over had great it sounded, even without the 5.1 the TV sounds great on it's own. I am still playing with all the picture settings and Apps. Apps are just a very cool bonus, now there are even games. I cannot wait till football season to watch all the games, I just hope my teams look as good as my TV does.
Vizo thanks for making this TV. Please add a YouTube App also.

I've had this TV for about 3 weeks so far and no complaints. The setup was incredibly easy and remote replaces all others. The wireless connection is awesome, I didn't need to move my router. The widgets are pretty cool, although not too many at the moment. The picture and sound are amazing!!!! Only downside at the moment is that you cannot play media from external hard drive through USB but maybe that will be changed. I highly recommend this TV to everyone! Amazing TV, great price and awesome customer service!

Intuitive is the best word to describe the remote. Internet Apps/Widgets are great. Watched a netflix movie within two hours of setting up. Everything about this TV is easy. Hi,

I have never written a review on a product before, but I felt I needed to on such a fantastic product. I received my SV472XVT 47" Vizio LED TV about 7 weeks ago and have enjoy many hours of viewing. I have not seen another TV with better picture quality or more vibrant colors for the money, in fact for any money. I cannot believe how clear the picture is while watching blu-ray DVD’s or broadcast HD shows. The colors are absolutely amazing and the blacks and whites are unbelievable, it is like being there live.

The Vizio Internet Apps (VIA) are a very nice and easy feature to use and they work great. I am not really into the apps right now but they look like they will be fun in the future especially when other companies start using the apps feature. Love the picture in picture (PIP) and picture outside of picture (POP), you can set it up so it is just like you are watching two 22” screens.

My only concerns that I have with the TV is that speakers that come with the TV are small and do not have a lot of bass and the remote control is small for people will big hands and I wish it had a sleep button right on the remote control and not buried in a menu. The speakers are plenty good enough for everyday usage, but I would suggest you run the audio through a stereo system or the Vizio Sound Bar W/Wireless Subwoofer, if you are going to watch a concert or a movie.

When at stores or at work and people ask me about LCD TV’s, I am constantly bragging about the superb quality of Vizio. I do have a problem trying to figure out which product to by next from Vizio. Vizio keep up the good work.

Undescribable - So Good!!!! Review by Jeff

My wife and I bought the 47" TruLED HD Vizio from QVC. We are not technical people but had no trouble setting it up. Haven't used the APPS yet - Can't wait! Picture is indescribable! It makes you feel like you are there! The picture is so clear and colors are fantastic! We had a 32" LCD Vizio for only a few weeks and are giving it to our youngest son! We would recommend it for its picture quality, too - make a great bedroom TV. But the LED is truly amazing! We will be purchasing the sound bar and wireless woofer in the next few months to go with it! We also bought the Blue Ray player (100). The only electronics we will be recommending to anyone is Vizio! Keep up the good work! We are customers for life!

I had been waiting for this TV to come out. I had been reading the reviews and comparing with other tvs.I had compared the functions with the Samsung and based on the functions you get and the costs you could not beat the price.
I happened to be selected as a VIA VIP. The Tv came without a dent on the box which i happened to work for a shipping company , well the handling is the best , especially handling a big item . I set my lcd from the ceiling which i must say was pretty easy and it is light compare to 15Yrs ago .The picture and colors are unreal. The set up of the wireless apps went off without a hitch and using some of them the sound for music was clear and loud enough but for movies is different you need to run it through external system.I have great fun using my apps and the only thing is that i probably need to get another tv because my wife. The only issue is the quest keypad is a bit small and it is hard to read the keys.i cannot wait to try out the sound abr and bluray................. I cannot wait to watch the soccer world cup..

A Solid Best Buy - Wow! Review by Don

Picked up the new SV472XVT 47"Vizio last weekend. Had to drive 1/4 across the state to find it. Worth the trip. Internet widgets including weather and Pandora are awesome. Wonderful display... crisp, clear, and at times just shy of 3D. Exceptional in-set speaker sound, but will be getting the sound bar to replace an old surround system.

Major note: We have a Dish HD DVR which has the default sound set to Dolby Digital/PCM. It had to switched to to PCM only before the DVR sound would work properly. It would "heicoptor" or lose sound completely on the Vizio before changing settings. It's not a Vizio or Dish failure, just settings for both need to be right.

Great TV - a best buy Review by Lenny

After seeing comparing Vizio's picture with others on display at Costco, I was almost certain it was the one I wanted. Great picture and style. Then after leaving and stopping at the super market (and a coincidence), I came across the March Consumers Reports in the checkout line which covered the "Best TVs". The VF550M was rated a CR Best Buy. Though this was not the same model it seemed the newer version was likely a as good or better, and with Costco's generous return policy, an added assurance of satisfaction. I returned to Costco and upon engaging a couple of customers also looking at TV's, two of them said they were current owners of Vizio models and would not buy another brand. Well, I bought the SV472XVT and have been watching it for a week. I was blown away by the picture quality and features. Not to discount the sound quality. Now I am trying to figure out which Vizio model to buy for my bedroom....

Excellent TV and Getting Better! Review by MAS

I have owned this now for over a month and have it mounted on the wall using the Vizio motorized mount (very easy and very cool!). From the first this set was a real pleasure to use - easy, excellent picture quality (Cable w/HD 1080i feed) and even the sound quality from the TV alone was far better than I would have expected.

I have been playing with some of the VIA apps and can say that they, too, work quite well. Some are not of interest to me, but they are easily removed from the list so that they do not clutter the widget gallery. I watched a movie today via the VUDU app in 1080p across my wireless network - what a very cool technology and a remarkable picture, all via 802.11n signal!

If I had a concern it was that some of the apps that I would use (and are advertised on TV) were not there, specifically Pandora which I enjoy. But the beauty of this TV is that things just get updated automatically! The other day there was Pandora on the list of apps. A simple log-in from my normal account and there are all of my channels and music! It is nice to not only have a TV that provides such a great picture and interesting / useful apps, but it is quite nice to know that in the future even more new things will become available. Really cool to be able to have things update and be able to look forward to new things from time to time! way to go Vizio!

My TV came today and right out of the box I fell in love, I love the look of the TV, and once powered on, the set-up was a breeze. The picture quality is awesome, and the internet apps are way cool, it was one of the big selling features for me. I must say though, I'm dissapointed that they advertise Facebook App on the side of the box, but yet I can't find it in the list of available apps on the TV. One thing that I also love is the remote, I was able to get rid of my directv remote as well as my dvd player remote, too bad it doesn't control a PS3, but oh well, it's a small price to pay. Anyway, great job Vizio, I'm hooked!

I started to watch this great television January 26 2010, three weeks later I can assure any TV enthusiast that the simple operation of the TV with the Bluetooth remote, the HD quality, the wireless capability of the internet apps, the sleek looks, and the sound is superior to $4000.00 televisions produced by others like Samsung 8500 series, Sony xbr10 and Mitsubishi Unisen 46”.
I would not hastate and look at this and listen to that I would just simply buy it.
I am buying an SV552XVT net month so I can enjoy my TV time in the office too.

Going from 32" analog to this LED- LCD was an eye opener. The clarity is really good and the hd channels are amazing. The cabling setup was easy and the only problem we had was learning the cable box remotes and settings. It was a great buy.

We watched the super bowl and all I can say us unbelievable!

Hi,

We only received our tv 5 days ago, and thus far are using no components (will be added bit by bit). Setup was a breeze - the tv walked the user through the setup without any problem whatsoever. Putting in the long security codes for the Wifi was easy because of the qwerty keyboard built into remote.

Picture is incredible, with great contrast and brightness even 480sd looks good on this set.

Because it uses the "N" wireless Netflix streams in flawlessly even though the set is pretty far away from our router. We were disappointed though that Pandora wasn't included in the apps selection.

The Viso sound is real good even without external speakers.They have some fancy names for their sound processing, that I can't remember, but I just know it sounds good right out of the box.

This TV ROCKS!!!!! Review by Schocker

I've had the TV now for about 3 weeks. I set it up by myself right out of the box. Just to give you a little history of my TV buying experience. I had originally bought a Samsung LED 750 series TV. After having it for a few weeks I started noticing that the TV had light shining into the sides of the TV especially during dark movies. This becomes very annoying especially in a dark room. I found out later about their side lit design. To avoid it I had to go to the 850 series for over $3000. That was not going to happen. When I found out about the Vizio 472 coming out for half the price with the full back lit I took the Samsung back. I am extremely happy with this TV and the auto dimming. Sports look awesome on this TV. I couldn't be happier. Plus its paid for. Even better. My dad and a good friend also have Vizio's, and I would definetely recommend their TV to anyone.

Amazing TV! Review by Nate

I had been waiting for the price of the LED televisions come down and I knew I also wanted an internet enabled TV. When Vizio announced this TV, I knew it was exactly what I was wanted. As soon as it became available, I bought it.

Set-up was a breeze. In less than 15 minutes I had my HD Cable connected, my Blu-ray player connected, and my Nintendo Wii connected. I was blown away by how good the picture quality is. The LED backlighting technology is well worth it! This TV is amazing.

We find ourselves watching shows that we didn't watch before. They are so much more captivating in HD. We have watched a handful of Nature shows on PBS in HD and they are incredible. The colors, the clarity, everything is just phenomenal!

Movies with the Blu-ray player look incredible as well. The picture quality is very life-like. Animated movies are amazingly sharp as well. I have been very impressed.

When I initially connected the Wii, I was disappointed to discover the phenomenon of HDTV lag. This occurs during gaming when the TV is too smart for the console. The game play from the controller is delayed and the timing is thrown off making games essentially unplayable. After a bit of research I found that all I needed to do was upgrade to "component" cables from the Wii to the TV. After making the upgrade, I now have no problem at all with the Wii and gaming with the kids has never been funner.

I applaud Vizio for producing high-quality, high-end TVs that are aggressively priced. I can recommend this TV without reservations. This is the first time I have reviewed a product, but felt I needed to because I have been so satisfied with this purchase.

Wow, Great TV! Review by LQQKER

I'm not the write the review type of guy, but I felt that I should for this TV. I flipped back and forth on getting a Samsung or Sony and then talked to my Dad a few weeks ago who is an avid reader of Consumer Reports and review sites in general and he had asked if I had seen any reviews on the new LED/LCDs out by Vizio and I said I didn't think they made any yet. Make a long story short I ended up going to the Vizio website and read about this VIP program and the price and decided that my Dad and the handful of reviews can't be wrong and I'm glad I did. The setup is a breeze for all my devices, the widgets are fun, but the quality of the picture is simply awesome. I'm in the St. Louis area and got to watch my first Mizzou game & Blues game on this thing today and it looked beautiful. I'm not new to LCD or HD content. I have a smaller Samsung LCD (32in) in the bedroom and I had a Samsung DLP (50in) that this replaced and I don't regret it and the price just made it that much sweeter. For all those naysayers saying that Samsung is the best in the LCD market they need to do some real research and see that them & Vizio are tied in sales for 2009 and introducing products like this for this price will put them ahead of the pack.

I HAVE ONLY HAD THIS TV FOR 2 DAYS. THE SET UP WAS USER FREINDLY AND THE PICTURE LOOKS GREAT ON HD CHANNELS. I HAVE ONLY TINKERED WITH THE VIA APPS, BUT LOOK FORWARD TO PLAYING AROUND WITH THEM.
