Great buy! Review by klus

My first HD was a sony bravia 46, which is fine, but the bulb went out etc. This spring, I purchased the Vizio 55 and couldn't be happier with it. My only suggestion would be for the remote to have more universal capabilities, but then again with direct TV, to utilize all the features such as DVR etc, the Direct TV remote is best. I have this hooked up to a 5.1 sound system, but even without, it sounds fantastic. I paid $1399 at Target. Walmart would have been $50 cheaper, but it became a hassle to find one in stock. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Vizio. I'm usually a Sony or big name brand shopper, but I think the Vizio is up there with the big boys now. I wouldn't bother with a review unless I loved the product.

Great Deal Review by shane

I can't belive the deal I just got on this system. I have a 42 inch Sylvania in cant touch the Vivio. After reading a number of the review I feel bad to say (not really) I just left Walmart in Bradenton, Florida. I have been looking at TV's for the last 3 months so when I came across a new in the box never been open Vizio VF550M for $750 I could not get my wallet out fast enough after taxes I paid $780 what a deal

AWESOME! Review by keeter

We have had a 37 inch Vizio for maybe 4 years. With our home buyers credit we agreed that we were going to take advantage of getting the 55 inch for our family room. Didn't have to decide on brand because we were sold from day one. I rave about this brand to people. Just this past weekend my sisters went to Walmart and they had rollbacks and open box specials. They got the 42 inch normally for $897.00 for $697.00. They of are happy with the brand also. Vizio you have very solid products with great prices. Especially with Walmart.

what a great tv Review by richard

just bought this tv yesterday at costco for 1299 and was well worth the money. this is my first hdtv and work with alot of different brands and tvs at costco so i had a wide array of them to choose from but after lots of long hard thinking i decided to go with this tv and am extremely glad i did. even my girlfriend wasn't too happy about it at first thought it was way too big (doesn't have the male mindset) lol, but is now accepting of it and is even starting to like it. was so impressed with this tv after just one night of non hdtv viewing that i took my mom back to work (costco) and she purchased a 32" vizio off my one night viewing recommendation. anybody else out there looking for a new or replacement hdtv look no further this is the best brand of tvs for the money and the quality you get. great job vizio you now have a lifetime family of customers keep up the great work.

Great Deal and what looks like a great TV Review by Kris

We were looking at this TV for sometime now but didn't make the decision to buy. Finally with the soccer world cup just around the corner, we didn't want to wait any longer. Went to Target and saw that the only one they had was the floor model clearance priced at $1119 (20% off original price). The associate said that he could give another 10% off the already clearance price of 20% off. That brought it to $1000. He said that the model has been on the floor for around 2 - 3 months. We then went to two other Targets to see if they have an in the box set. None of them did. In Target shop 2, they had only the floor model priced at $1119 but it had a nasty scratch on the screen. Target 3 had a week old display model only and they again had it for $1119. When we asked if they would give any more discounts, the associate and the manager both declined saying that it was at a store's discretion to give further discounts and in their case, since it was only a week old, they didn't see the need to give a further discount. We then went back to Target 1 and asked the sales manager for a further discount on top of the extra 10%. We asked for 30% off on top of the Clearance price. She talked to her boss and ended up accepting our request. The final price was an unbelievable $784, which worked out to an amazing 45% off! What a deal. We also bought the 3 year extended warranty for $79.

The electronics employees were amazing and helped us pack the TV and load it onto my truck and we drove home and connected it to our HD cable. The pictures are amazing! The audio wasn't great at first but a small adjustment and it sounds much better. Once we hook it with our home theater, it will be even better. The TV seems to be an amazing buy and we cannot wait to see the world cup on our new TV!!

LOOKS GOOD SO FAR - GREAT COMPANY Review by Mike - Lake Havasu

Just got this TV from Target for $845.00 !!!! Purchased the floor model with no scratches, and received all documentation but no box. Original price was $1399.00 and all in stock models that are non floor models are now $1140.00!! So what a deal, get a new one for$ 260.00 less or the floor model for a steal of a deal (30% off) I only learned of this due Chris's post on this page, thanks Chris.

TV is just awesome, adjust the sharpness though to make the blacks deeper though - out preforms my older VIZIO 50" Plasma.

Just want to say this is a great TV company, great customer service!! Took care of my 4 year old 50" Plasma three years out of Warranty because of a known defect. Came out twice to fix it but the panel was bad, so they Provided me with a cash refund which paid for the new LCD! I will stick with VIZIO.

Great Deal on a Great TV! Review by Chris

I just bought this TV today at Target. I guess it's a great seller because they had absolutely none left, except the floor model. It was on clearance for $1120, which was already an amazing deal. But Target, being the great store that it is, gave me 30% off the already clearance price! For a total of $877 and some change I got this behemoth of a television set. The picture is fantastic, and there is no blurring thanks to the Smooth Motion Technology and 120 Hz refresh rate. Movies on my PS3 look amazing, and games even better. Standard Def TV is pretty good, but to really take in the beauty of this beast, you need HD television, or a BluRay movie. Seriously, I would definitely have bought this set even without the great deal I got on it. It was practically a steal. Talk about right place at the right time...lol Can't WAIT FOR FOOTBALL SEASON!

Couldn't Be Happier Review by bril218

I purchased my 1st flat panel LCD Tv about one month ago from Wal Mart and I couldn't be happier than I am with the Vizio 55"...I was replacing a 55" (box set) Toshiba Theatre View and I was blown away at the clarity of the set and ease of installation. If you are buying this set or thinking of buying this set take my advice and go buy it!...Wal Mart had the set on sale for $1348.00 plus tax which makes a 55" seem extremely cheap but believe me it may not cost a-lot but it sure delivers in a "big" way...I purchased the HDMI Cables and that makes a huge difference on the clarity of the picture. We can't stop watching movies and if you like sports this tv is awesome to watch hockey or basketball on when they broadcast the game in HD. I just can't say enough and when I get ready to purchase my next set for my basement I'm definitely getting a Vizio!

Great HD Video at a Great Price! Review by Tim

Purchased a couple of weeks ago at Costco...I looked at several models and thought the HD video on this Vizio was just as good as the new LED technology on models costing hundreds of dollars more. Everyone who sees it comments on the great picture and deep blacks. Replacing a low cost 27" CRT TV set, I find the sound just fine as is...and when hooked up to my 30 yr. old component stereo system it sounds superb. My only complaint is the SD picture seems kind of "soft", but I guess 480 line video just isn't meant to be watched on a screen this big. Overall I am very satisfied with the set and will recommend Vizio to my family and friends!

A wonderful addition to a home entertainment system Review by ccowburn

I have always been a research first and then buy person, and I rely a great deal on consumer reviews as owners provide the best information with first hand pros and cons. Typically I have never contributed to the review pool, but with my recent upgraded to my entertainment system (several of which came through Amazon) I thought I would throw my "two cents" in in hopes of helping others in their pursue of a new television.

The Vizio (VF550M) is an absolutely wonderful television! I have owned a Sony 37" tub television for about 7 years and finally went out and upgraded to this Vizio. What a difference! I sound like a child, but I cannot see how I ever enjoyed watching television before. The clarity on all of my HD channels (currently a Time Warner Cable subscriber) is impeccable, bluray movies (also purchased the Vizio Bluray player) are a true enjoyment, and gaming has become a whole new experience!

Common complaints with this television are the menu navigation being too complicated and sound quality from the speakers. I cannot review the sound quality as I am using the Toslink optical output on the television to my JVC TH-BA3 soundbar surround sound system (a great product that I would suggest everyone check out). The menu navigation is not as bad as I expected after reading the reviews. Vizio has simple menu options to address sound and picture, but then offers more advanced users the opportunity to fine tune their viewing experience with many subcategories.

In terms of the impressive positives for me, the number of inputs on this television is great. I currently have my bluray, cable box, XBox 360, and Wii hooked up on their respective highest capable outputs, which has greatly increased my viewing experience. I also love the completely black housing and easy mounting capabilities of this television.

I am not sure how much longer this television will be offered with the new LED televisions hitting the market (I bought mine at BJ's Wholesale and the customer service person said they will not be getting any more in), but for people looking for an intense HD experience with a great entry price point this is the television for you. I know I could not be happier with my purchase!

Great TV Review by jgonzalez

I have been wanting to purchase a big screan for years...
I had a 37" in my living room for 10 years and I said I would buy as new one after it broke down.
I have been looking at this one at Costco and Walmart for about a year and every time I went to the store I always looked at them to see which I would buy if i had to.
About 2 weeks ago my old tv finally went out and I went to Costco to see if they still had it and they did. $1300 for TV and 2 year warranty.
Great TV awsome picture quality and very easy to install. My next purchase will be the Sound bar and Blu Ray player by Vizio.
Well worth the price..

What a great value! Review by Dan

My wife bought me a Playstation 3 recently and only after did we realize we needed a better television than what we had (an old crt-style 25"), especially since BluRay did nothing more than DVD with this old set.

Shopping around, we just about settled on a 47" LCD from a large, well-known television maker when we found the Vizio 55" selling for about same price. After looking up the specifications and reviews, we decided to give it a go and we couldn't be happier. Blu-Ray with this television is awesome, not to mention the night-and-day difference with PS3 games.

BTW, I have noticed absolutely no blurring or ghosting that some people complain about when talking about LCDs in general, perhaps due to the respectable 5ms response time or the 120Hz Smooth Motion technology.

For what we paid, we simply could not ask for more!

Like watching a live show Review by Tim

I bought this TV today, brought it home and had it set up in less than 15 minutes, just plug it up and follow the directions. I never opened the paperwork on this TV and knew how to work everything on it in no time. Played a movie through my Vizio blue ray disc player and it was like we were watching it live, the color is so true and the picture is awesome. You read all the five star reviews and think there has to be some catch to this TV but so far I have not found it if there is one. Hook it to a home theater and it is better than being at the theaters. Buy this TV as you will not find a better 55 inch TV for the money.

Wow Review by Red

Wow never seen anything like it befor this one i had a 42 inch RCA that i had bought at walmart and i thought it was great i bought the tv as a display unit for three hundred dollars thought i almost stoled it needless to say it quit working thank god it was around income tax time so here i go again back to walmart there stock was terrible out of about every sony there one 55 inch vizio left so i figured what the heck so i bought it almost 1,500 out the door so about twenty minutes later we have it working.First thought was wierd it was so real looking that it looked fake and man did it take some time to get use to its amazing best picture ive ever seen dont hesitate on this one.

Excellent Review by KellyRobo

We just bought the 55 vf550m model, I have to say I have never seen a tv perform such as the vizio.
this tv is awesome, and makes watching it a total joy, I was never much of a tv watcher until we got this. Now the shows or movies we watch are such a thrill.

Also, the picture of this tv blows my mind, It brings things to life as if it is being filmed live. I'm not sure if that makes any since other than to say,..... If you are familiar with what something LIVE looks like compared to pre recorded/taped it is sooooooooooo different.
We watched Lord of the rings, it's better than being at the movie theater, sounds, clarity, the brightness OMG WE LOVE THIS TV!!

The vizio makes it as if you were right there and everything is live.
Not to mention the price is the best out there.

Couldn't resist - to good to miss Review by Willy

I bought the 55" Vizio VF550M on the 2/3 and had it set up for our Superbowl party. I wasn't in the market yet for a new TV but the deal from Target (exactly the same as John on 2/6) was too good to pass up. I had it set up and running in minutes and the picture quality is awesome. Our friends for the SB party were amazed at the quality, size and low cost and at least 2 were going to consider buying it. At the same time, Sam's had the 55" XVT on sale for about $500 more but that will be for my home entertainment and wet bar set up in my basement. I would recommend this tv to all

This t.v. is the best! Review by Rick

I bought my Vizio at wal-mart for $1298. I figured it looked the best on the shelf and the 3 months of research paid off. When I got it home, hooked it up with my bose surround sound, plugged in the hd dvr box, wow what an amazing surprise. The picture is way beyond my expectations. Along with the PIP you cannot go wrong with this t.v. I went into dozens of stores looking for the perfect t.v. to fit my budget and not only is it the best t.v. I had found, it was the cheapest to boot. Thanks Vizio for making it easy and a pleasant buying experience.

Definition of Perfection = VIZIO Review by sorick1974

We purchased our VF550M at Wal-Mart and it's the best HD LCD on the market today. We researched just about every 50" + LCD out there and outside the VIZIO 55" LED LCD which will be my next purchase nothing else comes close to my VIZIO VF550M. Nothing...... VIZIO is perfection in my book!

Nobody beats the Vizz.. Review by john

Bought this 55 a few days ago at Targert. My 55 RP Sony had a bad panel and it was getting worse. Had to go. Like most tech junkies, did lots of research. Kicked the tires at all the big box resellers, on-line, reviews, you name it we checked it out. Have had a 37 Vizz in the bedroom for a few years, no problems. I was interested in plasma(have an LG) as in the plus 50 sizes, I believe that the picture and value are second to none. There are glare issues, the weight(glass panel), and a few other minor issues, but I don't believe that you can go wrong in the monster size. However, I ended up back with the LCD, which has some issues of it's own. THe higher end Sammy's, Sony's etc. don't warrant the extra $, IMO. They spend tons marketing, thus you pay for that. I did check into the backlits(LED) as well, not quite perfected yet and too pricey as well. Amazon had matched the $1.299 WalMart price, then others shortly followed within days. A great value. I ended up at Target, who had ample stock at my area store. After applying for the Red Card(10% off), the clerk told me it's only good for that day, so I pulled the trigger. For $1,170 it felt like a Black Friday moment. Add in the 3 year extended for $99(not a fan of these but good value), out the door, into my car, for $1,330, with six months to pay at 0% interest. Couldn't pass it up. Wife and I broke down the old set, put the new one on existing glass stand(TV stand comes mounted in box) and had it fired up in minutes. So far, so good, stunning in HD, ok in SD(which I rarely watch). Audio sounded decent, hooked up right away to my surround. Simple set-up, no fancy calibrations to do. Default settings are fine for now. Time will tell, but first impressions are this is a great TV, for a great price. Look for further price reductions as this is no longer manufactured and tons of stock out there.

Nobody beats The Vizz Review by jc

Got this set at Target. Easy set-up, watching in an hour. Vizio keeps it's simple, no bells/whistles, confusing calibrations etc. just deliver with a great price point. With Red Card(10%), got out for $1,170(plus tax). Seven month, 0% to boot. A three year extended for $99, can't go wrong. Replaced my Sony 55, RP LCD, no comparison to the Vizio. Bright, chrystal clear in HD, standard def is just ok, don't watch much anyway. Quiet, runs cool. Time will tell, but for now, this monster was a steal. Go get it!!

Best Deal on the planet! Review by Chancy

This is my first LCD TV purchase and boy, I am happy with it! I got a 55' VF550M for $1340. I shopped all over the net and looked at all of the features, and the Vizio offered the best combination of features and screen size for the price, anywhere on the entire internet, including retail stores! And the menus are intuitive and easy to navigate, the remote is simple, and self explanatory. I didn't have to read the manual at all to get it going. Hooked it up to my home theater system easily, and the picture is absolutely amazing! Games look good on it, and the movies are fantastically clear! The TV automatically adjusts the picture display to maximize clarity based on the source ratio, so it's very easy to watch! 5 STARS, WELL DONE VIZIO!

High Definition At It's Best Review by Dodgeguy

I was kinda forced into buying a TV on 1/3/2010 when my 3 year old Audiovox 42" Plasma picture died. I had been looking at larger TV's for sometime including the Vizio, which I purchased at Walmart. Boy, what a picture. The High Definition really shines through on this 55" set and it is plenty big. The clarity of the picture makes it seem like you can reach out and touch the people on TV. I love watching football games on the set and I can't wait until baseball season. Movies in High Def are also great. I would recommend this set to anyone looking for a "Home Theater" type TV. Love It!!

First Flat screen Review by Oliver72

This is our first HD-LCD flat screen Televison. We are very please with it. After looking at all the LCD's on display, this one really caught our eye. someone told me that Vizio is owned by LG. Is this true? I know LG has great products and they are an up and coming company. I would recommend to anyone to purchase this TV. Thumbs up from LaPlata, Maryland.

Excellent Purchase Review by vizlover

I recently purchased the Vizio VF550M as a bundle deal from Dell. I couldn't pass up the price, for under $1500, I got the tv, the blu ray player, the subwoofer and the soundbar. I already own a 42" Vizio and have been really impressed by the quality, so I expected the same from the 55". However, I was totally amazed by the quality of the tv. I just finished watching Transformers and it was more exciting watching it at home than in the theater. I don't know what the people are doing at Vizio to make such great tv's for such an affordable price, but keep on doing it. I have a need to buy more Blu Ray movies just to watch them on this screen. People can complain about how much money these tvs cost, but I guarantee I am saving a bundle because all I want to do is sit at home and watch this big screen. Great job Vizio!

I can't stand looking at some of these people's faces (Bruce Springsteen and Morgan Freeman- gag me) because the picture on my new Vizio 55' is so GREAT. It's like I'm wearing 3-D glasses. Much better that my old Sony 60' HDTV. And the ProActive commercial - nice babe but ZITS omg! Buy this TV, it's great, at COSTCO $1150 on 11/27.

Awesome TV/ Price Review by Shawn and Jen

My wife purchased the 55" LCD at Walmart 3 days ago for my Christmas present. The picture is unbelieveable and the sound is great! I would recommend this Visio to anyone who is looking for a high quality TV for a good price. We paid 1398.00 at Walmart. Very fun to play Nintendo WII on as well!

Small price for a huge TV Review by Vic

Best decision ever. Great picture well made. Out does my mitsubishi DLP of course. Picture quality so good I went back and bought 2 32" Tv's for the kids. Purchased all 3 at Costco on black Friday. Fantastic price. 1150 for 55" 400 for 32"s.Why pay more when you can purchase this TV at half the cost of all major tv manufactorers.

Awesome at the price! Review by mcair

I had been holding out for a Sony, but have a couple of 32" Vizios and been impressed by the quality. I got the Costco Black Friday deal ($1150) on this, and picked up the BDP110 Blu-Ray for $99 also.

I couldn't be happier. HD images are spectacular, and the Blu-Ray player up-converts regular DVDs so well that I won't need to re-buy my favorites (ok, except the Bond movies!).

My only gripe is with the build-in sound. For movies I have a great 5.1 setup, but everyday TV is hard to listen to. This is likely a problem with all flat-panels.

What A Deal Review by boojay

I am just like the rest of the people before me. I researched all the 52" tv's, checked all of the ads for the past 2 months, drove my wife nuts with all of the comparisons. I finally got the payoff. I bought this tv for $1273.00, out the door, on black friday, from Costco. Trust me when I saw this add, I went straight to this site and read ALL of the reviews, and they were all right. The picture is Unbelievable!! I have HD and Blu-Ray and an Xbox hooked up through this tv and I feel like I have wasted the last 3 yrs of my life, watching a good philips 52" big screen. I am bragging to my friends and telling them to stop wasting their time and get one. You won't be disappointed. I believe that you won't be disappointed either. Don't compare just get it.

our third VIZIO Review by ej

We purchased our third VIZIO the VF55M and are amazed at the sharp crystal clear picture compared to even the LED TV's from other manufacturers. We use HDMI cables and with the DVR from our cable company its simply the best. This one is for our new completely finished basement sports rec room and is a perfect size fit.
Our other VIZIO's are a two year old 47" LCD in the family room and we added a 26" last year for our bedroom. All GREAT picture sharpness and crystal clear color.

Great Television,Great Value! Review by Prev

We purchased this 55" to replace our other Vizio 47" model and we were only expecting a size difference but to our surprise the picture quality is completely different. We are amazed with the 3-D like picture, this is what HD should look like!
For the slight difference in price anyone in the market for a larger HD TV should skip the 47" and go for the 55", the picture quality is worth the extra money.
Sam's Club and Walmart have the best prices on this model by the way, we bought both of ours from Sams's Club.

Very Nice! Review by Tom

I looked and looked for several weeks, compared LED's to LCD's, and my overall goal was to get a great value AND more importantly be happy down the road with the picture quality and size. Vizio was the clear winner, and with the 55inch LCD I feel I am sitting in my own private movie theater. Also don't fool yourself with a 47inch set....that's ANY 47 inch set.... the 55inch is like night and day and does not require a lot of space to view it.

There are other contenders out there, no doubt. But again if you do your homework, and let your eyes judge the quality you will likely be like me and have zero regrets....thanks Vizio for keeping your prices & quality in check!

ps: I also have a 32 inch Vizio that is over three years old, it's on all the time, takes a 6 yr. old's abuse and still the picture looks like when we just purchased it.

Amazing TV Review by Lakernation

I got this TV about a month ago, and I couldn't be happier. Watching Blue Ray is amazing, and the xbox looks like glass.

Seriously you can't go wrong with this TV, it'll definitely make your friends envious when they come over.

great product, great price Review by billyelboriqua

I saw this in Walmart, the only one left, I had to have it. Great tv, good size, great product. I took me and two others, to help me install it up in the wall, the rest was easy, using hdmi cable and surround sound, all I had to do is plug in the hdtv, and the hdmi plug, and all ready, I had picture and sound. My family and I were satisfied, the remote can you some work, but it is nice to that Vizio spend their time in making a good product, and not waste their time on a remote. I recommend it, to others to buy. Other company's beware, they is a new company out there, who can swing with the big boys, and the company's name is, VIZIO!

Awesome for the price! Review by HD Nut

Sometimes I get a 3D effect from the HD and smoothness. Must have a good HD provider. Currently using Fios and completely satisfied.
Picture is bright and vibrant. I swear i almost got hit with a foul ball watching the game.
You can't go wrong with this TV just make sure you use HDMI and mount it properly.
I recommend this TV and i have 3 HD TV's already and this one is prominently displayed in my family room.

Impressive Review by Cody

My family is thinking about getting a new, larger, more HD TV in the near future, and I should reccomend getting a VIZIO TV. My grandparents have two of them and they're very nice and have very high quality graphics. 5 out of 5 on this one.

Impressed with your products Review by Joe

Still shopping, I'm truly impressed with your TV's compared to others in the showrooms. I want to stay in the 50+ class as I have a large room to fill. I'm disabled so TV is very important to me so I want the best I can get. So expect a sale from me in the very near future.
